Jim Rome, like him or hate him?
I personally would like him more if he wasn't too hip for his own good.

Like him, or hate him?

Rome is okay. The emailers (faxers in the old days) are what make the show.

I like him, but I can see how some might find him annoying. He's very smug, but I think he's hilarious.

The overall presentation gets very tiresome.

Average "three hours" of Rome is usually no more than 45 to 50 minutes, with 40 minutes of it being him repeating (literally) the same line a half dozen times.

And he's certainly mastered the radio art of the Long Pause.

He'll get a gag line and repeat it like a half dozen, or even ten times in a row and suddenly three, four minutes is gone. Then a couple of long pauses, a reset of who is going to be on the show later and he's just about blown out a segment.

I will admit that I listen on occasion. Comes off as an extremely arrogant guy. Over played, over hyped and the topics are getting old. Tired of listening to his horse BS. Tune him out lately.

Will admit he gets in the face of some of his guests, which I respect.

He was good, really good back in the day. Before the TV, before all the affiliates. When he worked back to back with Lee 'Butterknife' Hamilton on XTRA in San Diego. He did a great impression of Lee........"Where are you Charger Fan? Where are you La Mesa? Where are you Mission Valley? I want to hear from you Oceanside !" ..Now that was some good stuff.

Maybe Whorezmans or Rail or the other old school Cali types remember him back then...

Lotsa regulars because there weren't calls from all over the country. ....

Jim Rome has a quality that a lot of guys in the sports commentary business don't have, and that's respect for his guests. He never rudely interrupts them on his tv show, and always lets them finish their thoughts. It's a lost art when you have clowns like Skip Bayless and Steven A Smith roaming the air waves.
