I gotta think restaurants, bars, casinos, American car dealers, airlines for starters.

I thought a cabbie pays a flat fee for the cab, buys his own gas, Fishhead said differently for LV.

I don't know standard practice.

I'd add movie theaters .... kind of tough to pay $10 to see a movie, when pressed elsewhere for $. I wouldn't want to be invested in that !

Coffee places like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, as well.

It's going to hit so many places it is ridiculous.

New furniture dealers.... just keep the old stuff.

Home improvement contractors... wait, or do it yourself

Anything that isn't urgent, can be put off.

It can be a good time for deals if you buy now though.

I bought a new couch and a table today from a furniture store going out of business. I paid $725, original price would have been about $1700.

furniture store goes out, tax base is hit, workers there now unemployed... furniture store sales people no longer spending money at your restaurant/bar, car dealer/dept. store, etc. It snowballs crazily.

i can already hear arguments of sales down cause people don't want to drive to stores to buy porn.....or waste excess electricity to watch it when they can just masturbate staring into a neighbor's window.

I have a 97 Cadillac STS which I really like thats starting to look like, well an old car with a lot of miles. Id like to pick up a used one, maybe 2005-2006 or so. I probably will just keep mine until it explodes or something, but I was thinking this would be a GREAT time to buy a car like that off a lot. They need to move cars and all anybody wants anymore are hybrids or very fuel efficient cars.

Used Caddys are fairly expensive about 25K for what Im looking at so it would be the kind of purchase that people are putting off now and they are decent on fuel, like 27 mph highway 17 town or so I think, but thats not good compared to a Prius or something. Seems like if you want a car that isnt terribly fuel efficient, now is a good time.

If you want an SUV ( you dumbass) now would be a great time. They practically have to beg to sell those. Nobody wants them anymore.

Cadillac STS is really nice by the way, I reccomend them.

honest question- remember the electric car? GM made it right?

remember the movie "Who killed the electric car?"

Tom Hanks had one, he said it was great. They could go like 100 miles on a charge I think.

so the question is, why the fuck like 6 months ago didnt GM start rolling these off the lines again? I saw friday GM stock is at its lowest in 33 years. Wht the fuck dont they make those electric cars again? They already made them, they know how. They would sell like hotcakes!

Nobody would say, why do you drive that little piece of shit? People would be fukkin jealous of you if you had an electric car.

Hawaiian vacations are a good example. You ( as a mainlander) cancel your planned trip to Hawaii... can't budget it, anymore. That effects everybody in Hawaii from t-shirt vendor, to fishing charter boat worker, to hotel maid, to everybody really. The boat captain doesn't hire the painter to re-paint his home, because he's he's now hurting.

People putting off spending money on stuff like furniture and going to Hawaii, shrinks the supply of money spent on these iffy purchases that are at one's discretion.

It's going to hit most... unless your product/service is essential.

you could probably spin it....but in all honesty, the company i work for probably isn't hurt by this scared spending.

Accounting firm for primairly medical practices.....peopleneed healthcare (i say 5% of clients are cosmetic) and although they are strapped for cash, they usually still go and insurance (although with rising premiums) companies pay. And the doctors have to pay their accountants cause they still need the work done

Electric needs recharging facilities, only was available in Ca, in the 90's. It could work, don't get me wrong. It depends if they could be mass-produced... and re-charged cost-effectively, on more than a proto-type basis.

As to SUV's, there is a big difference between something like a 4cylinder Honda CR-V, and an 8 cylinder Ford Expedition.

I have a Honda CR-V, and an older Ford F-150, truck doesn't get used much ( 15 mpg), but nice to have available, when needed, otherwise it sits parked.

To go somewhere say 30 miles away ( and back), that's 4 gallons ( or $18 just in gas). It runs only as needed as a truck.
