It is on a Friday so sets up a nice three to four day weekend.

BBQ and local fireworks or will the lakes and such still be booming.

I think that people will set aside high cost and still travel,as us Americans tend to keep spending till were tapped out............LOL

I don't understand the big fuss about vacations with the gas prices. I think the big effect is on the day to day travel. I mean if your going on vacation you are prepared to spend money, so the higher gas prices could only be a couple hundred dollars maximum than what it was a few years ago.

if you budget correctly and plan for the higher cost, you can go anywhere you please. Though it does suck that the same trip we took back in late march from champaign to New Orleans by car would cost about 100 bux more for no other reason than the higher price of fuel. But that isn't even a big deal.

I think the problem is that if families are spending an extra $25 a week on Gas, unless they all got $1300 raises that money has to come from somewhere.

So I'm sure a lot of people will travel less

I believe the prices of gas would not stop me from going somewhere, if that was the Plan.
But I hold a Semi-Annual 4th of July BQ Party for like 100 people at my place. Those people that come every year I do it, are Still coming. And a few people are from as far away as PA.

As wheat has sky rocketed which affects our barley and oats.

TN, you are More then Welcome to come :103631605

No, not twice a Year. Once every " Other " Year. Maybe I worded it wrong. Because another friend does it One year, and I do it the Next.
Been doing it this way for 12 years now.

I'm able to walk to work. Three weeks ago I said fuck the high prices. Hardly drive anywhere now. Walk to the store for groceries as well. Goes well with my low carb diet. Had to buy new pants last week. Could care less if the price of fuel goes to $8 per gallon.:103631605

People who travel with RV's are traveling far less, as are those who are hauling boats. Don't see near the boats in Lake Michigan this year. I would still expect heavy travel numbers on the 4th of July (may be closer to home however), but the other summer weekends will be down.

$8 gas would still effect you, even if you don't drive.
