I'm a big American football fan but watching these games right now makes your heart tremble. This game doesn't stop, the momentum changes rapidly and the skill you need to have to play at this level is unbelievable.

Just watch the fans in the stands, you will never have that at any event in this country.

Well Turkey had a few chances.

One missed header will haunt them.

I'm sorry but I've been watching soccer for quite some time now. It's pass, pass, bad pass opponent takes over. Then it's pass, pass, bad pass opponent takes over. This goes on for most of the match. Then occasionally you get the threat of a goal only to have the kicker put it 30 feet over the goal or 30 feet wide of the net. This is in World Cup play I'm talking about with the world's best players.

Then we have the world's worst floppers that make Vlade Divac look like he should get an academy award and the official calls the penalty. It is simply unwatchable.

No thanks!

If you want non-stop action try hockey. Hockey is soccer on ice in super fast motion.

Put the goal keeper on suicide watch.

You just can't blow a play like that.

For a sport that is notoriously low scoring and arguably too "boring" for the American masses, you picked a hell of a day to start this thread.

I've never seen a game turn like that in my life. Never, EVER

Haha i cannot believe it also.

You have to understand that it's not even about the scoring but the way the game is played. The tactic that is involved in setting up the players is unbelievable; The speed that the ball is moving is ridiculous.

You've evidently not spent as much time as White Hart Lane as me :p

I love watching all sports but football (soccer) is by far the best.

Its all non-stop. Yes of course it can be boring at times, but which sport isn't. I mean you can't tell me american football, baseball and basketball is always exciting to watch. Also skill level in football is higher just because you use your feet to control the ball. Everyone can use their hands, your co-ordination and control of your hands comes naturally to pretty much everyone because you eat, write etc with them. You only really use your feet for walking so to train them to have total control of a ball is harder.

The more popular american sports seem to be more focused on strength and overall atheleticism rather than skill.

Also why are there so much dead time in american sports. Players should be required to think more for themselves. In the NBA if a team is in the middle of a 13 to 0 run the opposition coach calls a time out to stop their momentum and tell his players what they should change in their approach. In football if a team takes a 2-0 lead after 20mins then its the players on the pitch who have to react and change the course of the game. Of course the coach can shout instructions from the bench but he cant stop the game. Players in football are required to be much more tactically aware.

As I said I love all sports. I can watch 9 innings of baseball, 4 quarters of NFL or 90 mins of football and enjoy them all. I just feel overall football is the most skillful and complete sport.
