Was done by the guy who wrote and directed Donnie Darko, which was weird enough... but he totally outdid himself with this one called Southland Tales.

Released in 2007. Has The Rock, Sean William Scott, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mandy Moore, Justin Timberlake, and a ton of other famous people. The plot is so freakin twisted and wacky... the stupid lines are great. Cheesy but they work.

Anyone seen this before and have an opinion?

I thought it was pretty freakin funny even though it's one of those movies with a plot so weird that I will have to watch it a few more times to understand.

don't bother. no idea why any1 would want to watch it twice

I saw pi and hated it. That coming from a guy who likes math.

It's about a bunch of neurotic nerds who are miserable. Who would want to watch that?

I think I'll go out and rent it. I've heard it has a whole bunch of symbolism in it. I've seen previews and it looks pertty good.

I'll post in this thread after I've seen it.

Symbolism out the ass. Just completely twisted and odd but I enjoyed it. If you like Donnie Darko you should like it.

Southland Tales is pretty deep flick. Some people will be confused as f uck after watching it but hopefully this helps.

First off the movie combines The Book Of Revelations, The Apocalypse, The Patriot Act, and Time Travel all in one setting so keep that in mind when you rent/buy the movie.

Second I recommend buying the graphic novel from Amazon first it is actually the first 3 acts of the movie. The movie starts at act 4 to act 6. The graphic novel is a quick read I finished it after taking a few shits.

Third each character in the movie is actually a parallel with the book of Revelations. Example Krysta Now = Mary Magdalene.

Fourth you must always remember "Nobody Rocks The C ock Like Krysta Now"

Donnie Darko and Pi for that matter were both very good movies, Southland Tales was just a complete waste of time. DD was such a cult favorite Kelley was able to draw a solid ensemble cast for this it's sad that he wasted them. Too long, too pointless, just a mess of a film. It had it's amusing moments but 4-5 laughs does not make up for almost 3 hours of random thoughts strung together. I'm gonna disagree with the op, if you liked DD you'll hate this cause you'll see what the director/screenwrite is capable of and what he's delivered.

I have Donnie Darko saved as a file and I haven't seen that yet. Maybe I'll see that this weekend and rent Southland Tales the next week.

Well I watched Donnie Darko last week and I'm queuing up Southland Tales now. I'll do a review of both on Sunday.
