DOW going under 12k today?

DOW looks like its going under 12k today hopefully have a good run up Monday if things go well with the OPEC meeting on Sunday. Last fall DOW was above 14k briefly so weve lost alot.

Its all a short run thing, though i do recall the DOW hit 10,000 for the first time in March 99, not made a ton of overall progress in the last 9 years!

one of the best companies on the planet is hovering around $28 a share and is sporting a yield approaching 4.5% is GE not a buy at these levels????

Analysts are downgrading GE for several reasons:

1. slow(er) sales for its aviation unit

2. lower income from its real estate unit

3. weak ad sales at NBC

4. lack of transparency... that 1Q surprise loss caught everyone offguard

5. lowered outlook for '08 and '09

should also be noted that they have already dumped their insurance businesses, plastics businesses and appliance businesses (whirlpool)

GE is selling a 100 something year old appliance maker???? hmmm
