Watching Barry Zito today made me wonder about some of the all time bad ones. Mike Hampton comes to mind. Arod?

Who else?

Oh yeah. Juan Gonzalas's Tiger contract was a brutal one.

How about Juwan Howard in 1996 resigned by Washington for 7 years $105 million. Was the 1st NBA $100 million contract.

John Koncak
Known to many as simply John Contract, in 1989 Koncak was a nothing back up center when the Hawks (who were fearful that he might sign with Detroit) bit on his bluff and signed him to a ridiculous six year $13 million deal. I know it doesn’t seem like much in today’s terms, but this deal made Koncak a higher paid player than Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. This deal is what many critics believed open the flood gates for many sorry ass over-hyped players getting paid ridiculous long term guaranteed contracts.

Wow:

Third Base: Bobby Bonilla - Team Captain
Team: New York Mets
Contract: $1.19M/year from 2011 to 2035
No, you’re not reading that wrong. When Bonilla was released by the Mets, he was due $5.9M. Instead, the Mets agreed to pay him the above sum for the above length of time. You can’t make this kind of stuff up.

Jim McIlvaine's Seattle contract may be the worst that I can remember. I couldn't believe it when I read it in the paper at the time.

Another good one that the old timers may remember was when Rennie Stennett hit the lottery with the Giants.

"He is widely regarded as having crippled multiple sports franchises for years in the aftermath of his combined massive contracts and overall performance failure, and is generally considered to be one of the biggest flops in NFL and professional sports history."

Matt Geiger - Sixers
Lance Parrish - Phillies
Steve Spurrier - Skins
Juwan Howard getting 100 mill (though it seemed like he might have be deserving of it at time of signing)

I think Mike Hampton got 100 mill as well. That's a joke.
