RX MLB Brief – June 19

MLB Match-Up Friday - “Red Line Rivalry” kicks off in Chi-town

Named for a transit line that runs between the city of Chicago, the “Red Line Rivalry” will have another edition beginning on Friday afternoon, as the Cubs host the White Sox at Wrigley Field to begin a three-game weekend set.

Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs – 2:20 PM ET
John Danks (4-4, 2.90) has reeled off three straight no-decisions, and the 23-year-old southpaw was unfortunate to not grab a win in his last start. Danks tossed a five-hitter over six innings with six strikeouts, but the White Sox were blanked 2-0 at home by Colorado. Danks has now allowed more than two runs in only three of his 14 starts, and a little more run support would surely bolster his record as he has the fourth-lowest ERA in the American League. This will be Danks' first exposure to the Chicago city rivalry in his two-year career.

Jason Marquis (5-3, 4.24) racked up his fourth straight win in his last start, scattering a run on four hits over seven innings as the Cubs rolled to a 6-2 win in Toronto. More impressively, the 29-year-old righthander has won three consecutive games on the road, giving up five runs over that time. Marquis took a no-decision in his last start against the White Sox in 2007, going six innings and allowing five runs on seven hits as the Cubs came away with an 11-6 win.

The Cubs took five of six from their crosstown rivals last season, including three in a row in the White Sox's park, Cellular Field. Danks is on a good roll right now, but so is Marquis, and the Cubs' offense has been formidable even in the absence of slugger Alfonso Soriano. Take the Cubs to snatch the first game of this rivalry, and give their fans bragging rights until the next game on Saturday.

I'm on the White Sox, and yes I went with the +1.5 for -170 for some insurance, during this in town rival game.

Hope these stats help. White Sox are hot right now. Cubs cold.
