OT: Sanitizing a well

Every year or two I pour 2 gallons of bleach in our well to kill germs, bacteria etc. I turn on all the faucets in the house until I smell the bleach. Then I let it work for a few hours, and run the water through all the lines until all the bleach has been run through. I was wondering if anyone else knew of a different way to do this without all the time and hassle.

P.S. Humorous answers, though not encouraged, will also be accepted.

I like the natural flavor of well water, why dump bleach in there when you can just move to the city and get your bleach for free?

I will pour bleach into my water softener from time to time and run it through from there, but I'm going to be dropping in an ultraviolet purifier sometime soon. Something like this:

LOL, it was more of an inquirey fellas. Why fuck up something good? You guys get alot of critters in your wells? We had blind Catfish and Crawdads in ours. Never really bothered us and we never really though much of it until years later some scientist made a huge discovery in our area, turns out that these rare/endangered fish only live in the purest of water and noone had really seen them in years(citation needed). The conservation ended up buying all the land in the area, and made some pretty nice offers to my parents(which they declined.

Looks good, however I think I'd interchange nos. 12 and 51 in hopes of realizing a more cost-efficient protuberance ratio quotient.

This is the best way, but one gallon is enough. Make sure you run the water for at least 4 hours.

Thanks billbal. Maybe Nes is right that I don't even need to do it at all. The water is really soft...we don't even have a softener in the house. I just always thought that bacteria probably gets into the water lines over time.
