MLB Best Bet for Sunday:
Chicago Cubs -130 (Vazquez/Dempster)
There is no doubt in my mind that the Cubs are the right side in this one. Dempster has been lights out as he is 8-2 with a 2.76 ERA and has been rock solid his last three outings. He is 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA in those starts with the Cubs picking up 2 out of those three games. The one game they dropped was a 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay. While we're on the subject, I think it's worthy to point out that the Cubs are an astounding 11-4 in Dempster's starts which is a good indicator that he puts them in position to win most of the games in which he starts. We definitely have the better starting pitcher as Vazquez has really struggled in his last three starts sporting a 7.27 ERA. I think that continues tonight as the Cubs have been ripping the cover off the ball at home at Wrigley Field. You cannot help but like their chances tonight when you see that they are 31-8 at home and the White Sox are under the .500 mark on the road. Overall, I feel we are getting the better pitcher and the better team at a very good price. When you throw in the fact that Thome and Konerko will be sitting this one out, the White Sox #3 and #4 hitters, this game looks extremely attractive. And if that isn't enough for you to like the Cubs tonight, throw in the fact that Cubs will be highly motivated at home going for the sweep against their crosstown rival and Wrigley Field will be rocking tonight after being called a bunch of idiots by White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski. All signs point to another Cubs victory so get your brooms out North Siders. Take the Cubs tonight to get the job done.
