Mike Singletary
will be featured Thursday on NFL Network’s “A Football Life” following the Bills-Jets game.
The Bears Hall of Fame linebacker talked about the show and his playing career Thursday morning on The Score’s
“Mully & Hanley” show (670-AM).
The 10-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker played all 12 of his seasons with the Bears, yet, when he tried to break into coaching, the Bears turned him away.
Mike Mulligan asked Singletary about being spurned by his old team: “What is your relationship with the Bears?”
“When I look at the Bears, I understand it’s very difficult to look at a player outside of a box,” Singletary said. “I think when the Bears look at me, they look at the guy who played middle linebacker. Of course, I negotiated my own contracts when I was there, so we had some interesting conversations.
“Overall, the Bears will always be special to me. I will always have a special place in my heart for the Chicago Bears. Always.”
Brian Hanley joked: “So, you won’t be wearing a Green Bay Packers sweater
like a certain coach?”
Singletary responded: “Oh, my. I talked to coach Ditka and I’m just thinking ‘What are you thinking? How in the world did they have you do that?’ There’s just some things you can’t do.”
Hanley quipped: “How much money do you need in life, gang.”
