why is Jason Kidd on the Olympic team?

I would think Paul and Williams would suffice at the PG spot without Kidd in their way. Is this 1998 or 2008? They should have added T. Chandler as an extra big body instead of Kidd.

Maybe they feel bad for him that his career is coming to an end?

He'll be just fine with Kobe and LeBron on his team though. They could put three scrubs with those two and still be favorites to win gold.

How the US doesn't beat each team by at least 50, let alone even win the gold, I'll never understand.

Kidd's range is about 10ft these days. Pretty sad.

Should have taken another big body guy.

The lineup looks good, but if another team gets hot from 3, they could lose easily.

Kidd was a good choice. He's a veteran who is a very good ball handler. His defense needs work but he can distribute the ball with the best of them and is at his best when he has people to pass to, which he surely will have. They didn't need another scorer with the names already on the team. Kidd will manage the game and not make dumb mistakes and that sounds just fine for me with all the star power around him.

Kidds only job will be to pass the ball. Have to admit he is good at that. Do not like him anymore but will distribute the ball and let the scorers take over.

Getting old sucks..I believe they took KIDD for the same reason I believe ROSE will be picked #1 in the NBA draft..If you have a viable point you cant pass on him..KIDD got old real quick but can distribute the ball..

i thought kidd was a decent selection only because they dont have any big men to rebound. Dont know why this group was selected but he gives them another rebounder.

I wonder if Jerry Colangelo felt bad for getting rid of Kidd from the Suns after he hit his wife. He is the national director of USA Basketball and of the team that will represent the United States in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
