Green doberman do you still work at IP?...could you tell me if the lines are up on Season totals and how much can you bet on one....goal for me is to place a $5k play and dont want to do it at 8 places!!!! Also if I place the Max bet...Can I come back in 30 mins and play It again for Max

Its a pain to bet Futures if you want to bet more than the Max...are they that scared??
or anyone else that can help?

I'd tr to keep any payout under 10K in general as well, or whatever any reporting sportsbook threshhold would be in Nevada.

A-A it's because of the low priority placed on keeping those lines sharp. They need to limit exposure so that they don't have to say "oops, did we post that line? We didn't really mean it. Here's the line for you."

I figure you know that and are just asking a rhetorical question out of frustration.

I can't imagine you not getting down more than 1,000 at some joint, even as bad as Vegas is these days.

At the Sands, are limits were $10,000 on NFL season win totals, and I would allow a player 50% more than that if they asked.

Having said that, as 5teamparlay stated, I would attempt to spread it around.........if for nothing else, to get down the desired amount you want.

Your not playing offshore these days I take it?

AA,
I am no longer in the industry and haven't been since last June.

The reason most won't take larger bets it to limit their exposure. Depending on the odds, you will more than likely be able to get down more on a favorite than a longer shot.

$5000 on the Patriots at even money, no problem.

$5000 on the Lions at 100-1, for example might be a problem.

Same amount bet but one limits your exposure to $5000, the other exposes you for $500,000.

Usually the odds will change when a certain exposure threshold has hit. That depends on the pool and how much is bet into it. The more money bet into it (like Super Bowl futures) the greater the threshold. The less money bet (a Wimbledon future) the quicker odds will move and the lower the limits.

The odds don't move based on the amount bet, but the amount potentially lost in most cases.

Most books here are chicken-shit and have their holds set anywhere from 50-75% in their future books. This is because they are both greedy and lazy.

Hope that response helped, but after reading the original post I see it was geared towards season win totals not futures.

I would imagine you would be able to get $5000 down on a season win total at one of the bigger hotels. I know we used to take $1000 and move the line, and then you could bet it again if you wished. Of course, we were much smaller fish in the pond.

Last year while in Vegas, I wanted to put $3000 on the Jags Over 9 wins -130. I was staying at the Rio, a Harrahs property, so that is where I decided to put it in. When I asked them how much they would take on the bet, they asked me how much did I want, and I told them $3000. After a discussion among like 3 or 4 people, they come back and tell me the most they'll take is $500. I said $500? isn't this Vegas? They huddled again and graciously allowed me to put $1000 on it. After I bet it, the line immediately moved to -140.

Since I wanted another $2000 on the Over 9, I then went to Caesars (where I was eating that night), which is also owned by Harrahs, and of course the line was now -140 there also due to my previous bet at the Rio. I asked them if they would take $2000 on the Jags Over 9 wins and they said sure, so I proceeded to put another $2000 on it at Caesars, albeit at -140.

So, the lesson learned is, bet it first at the bigger books since I believe they will take a bigger shot prior to moving the line on you. I look forward to going back there in August to collect this money and to hit em hard again this year!

I have no idea. Rare is it I go into a casino these days and even rarer that I'll linger in a sports book. Probably some other locals can help you better than I.

LOL Vegas sucks. Harrahs sucks.

You should have gone to the Palms instead of another Harrahs for the second bet.

Rio limited me to $200 on super bowl props while Palms was taking $1000. And the lady at the Rio was a TOTAL BITCH about it too. They are a joke there.

Trapstar, Your $3900 winning future tickets are now worthless. Void after 120 days is what the back of the ticket reads.
