Mine are all messed up so I went out and bought some new ones. How hard is this gonna be for me to do by myself? The connection is behind the wheel well a little bit but nothing I can't get to. Any tips? Advice? I'd rather not pay $100 to have some shop do it which is what I'm getting quoted, even though I'm sure this takes them 10 minutes tops. Figured I'd ask here before I dive in. Couldn't hurt, right?

i think it depends on your car. I have never done this but I imagine the two cables vary in length depending on car. You will need to find out how long, and get cables of equal/similar length. After that, hard core crimping and running wires....

come to think about it, i'd pay $100....lol....

anyone saying disconnect the battery are fags

Yea, I got the cables already. One 12 inches, one 36. Should be good to go on those. I figure it has to be pretty simple to do since I know where one end of the cable goes and all I have to do is track where the other end goes and hook it up how it was. PS, leave the cables on the battery. Check!

Is it still having problems starting?

Yea kinda. I tried to clean off the cables and whenever I clean them it starts fine but the metal is so bad that it becomes badly corroded a day or two later. They have electrical tape on them and it's not even the terminal with battery acid on it anymore, it's the actual cable. I still remember your advice and will investigate if this doesn't work but the fact that when I clean them it works for a few days until they get gunky again has me thinking the solution might just be replacing the cables so I get a reliable connection.

Fixed and working just fine. Only took about 20 minutes.

PS Jersey, I got the car at 80,000 miles or so and it's now at 110,000 and this is the first thing to really go wrong with it other than a loose connection. Can't beat the Acuras. They will go forever.
