Interesting "from a past draft" tidbit: Who drafted Kobe Bryant?

Thought this was interesting.

How soon I/we forget.

The Charlotte Hornets drafted Kobe Bryant with the 13th pick in the 1st round and traded him to the LA Lakers for Vlade Divac on that same day.

I know it isn't earth shattering news. Just a few things I must have forgot.

1) I wouldnt have been surprised to see he got drafted by the Lakers, being he has always played with them. Never remebered it was the Hornets.

2) I thought he went a little higher than the 13th pick in the 1st round.

3) I also forgot he got traded straight up for Vlade Divac.

(They may have brought this up during the NBA finals but I didnt watch any of it. )

EVERYONE knows this. It was a trade that was conducted prior to the draft because the Lakers really wanted him - Kobe never even visited Charlotte, getting drafted by them was a mere formality.

Hornets had no choice as kobe would not have played for them anways, so they traded him for good big man in vlade divac. He was not an elite center, but he was in the 2nd tier of big man in his hay day.

He could score, pass, and defend(even if his defense was mostly flopping)

Nowitzki was drafted by Milwaukee, traded for Robert Traylor

Pippen was Seattle, traded for Olden Polynice. Ouch.

I believe Kobe was drafted 3rd by the Hornets who didn't want him & immediately traded him to the Lakers. RDS
