I wonder how many events some of these guys buy into... they
could be paying $100K in entry fees, then when the tax man
takes his bite out of the win, it might not look so big
after all. Unless of course you win the big daddy.

I'm reminded of when Negreanu bought in 49 times to one of the
no-limit w/ rebuys event a few years back.

I read an article where Lindgren states that he spends about 800k a year on buy-ins alone.

anyone that tell you poker is luck just show him the list above...MANY of the events above had 1k-2k players in it and there are ALOT of big name poker pro's taking down bracelet after bracelet...i personally feel the online "pros" have clearly established themselves as the best poker players in the world hands down over the old time well name pro's like Hellmuth etc...youngsters like galfond/minieri will end up with many bracelets as guys like hellmuth/chan etc and the fields are 5-10X the size...pretty impressive imo

Everytime an internet player walks into "Bobby's Room," they get their ass handed to them.

a lot of the pros get their buy ins paid for i.e. pokerstars full tilt

How about the Hinkle brothers both taking down bracelets against huge fields. Very impressive.

they still have a makeup component if they are "backed" which not all team members are. Like for example say Full Tilt backs Lindgren, it doesnt mean that that give him 100k in buyins for the WSOP and thats taht, Lindgren has to pay that 100k back then keep his profits.
