Who wins, one with way more talent, the other with the "team" aspect....and not too shabby players either.

Voted for the Celtics. That defense can't be matched by Team USA. Celts know how to play with eachother. Team USA is a bunch of talented guys but they are not a team.

Forgot about the quarters.

And no matter the defense, it's hard to keep a team of capable scorers down over the course of a game. Nuggets are the best example I can think of where you have a team with a ton of individual studs who don't play a team game that well. Boston has the winning formula down.

Celtics easy.

They should have picked team USA around the Celtics. The big three and a few of the role players like PJ Brown and add a couple of point guards and rebouders and you have a TEAM that would WIN

Weren't there any Celtics good enough or willing to play for USA?

I hate the Celtics but props to them and their championship an team defense.

Celtics for sure. Take a team that has played together for a whole year, against a team that has just been assembled and hasn't played together for a long time, and you will find the team that played together for a year will win almost every time. In the NHL old day, they would pit the Stanley Cup champs against the league all-stars for their all-star game. The Champs won every time.

we have to start this up as an exhibition game....(okay, maybe not us personally)

I think this would make some money as a prime time event (kinda like those bighorn golf matches)

How about Team U.S.A. vs. Team Argentina, Team Yugoslavia, Team Puerto Rico, or Team Lithuania. After all all those teams allready beat us including Argentina twice.

This is the dumbest fucking thread I've ever read in my life.

What else would you expect when the top most posts trophies go to shdw01, Jake Thompson, and Dick Tator!

As silly as I thought the original question was, 8-5 isn't as lop-sided as some of the polls suggest. Seriously think this might draw some interest. (FWIW, I was real interested in the all-star game when the east went all detroit)

thank you. i was thinking the same.

FWIW, I voted Team USA.....

....but I think it would be close.

The biggest advantage Team USA has is the bench......but with 10 min quarters...bench not used as much....if Boston weren't so old....hmmm

The concept of the champion of a league playing against it's all stars from the rest of the teams is not that far fetched. The NHL did it for years when they were a six team league. The league expanded to 12 teams in 1966 and changed to the more common format that all leagues now use.

In the 1950 NHL All Star game The Montreal Canadiens beat the NHL All Stars 7-1. In 1959 the Canadiens won 6-1. The final game usng the champ vs all stars format in 1965 resulted in the all stars defeating the Canadiens 5-2. Gordie Howe was MVP.

Wil, you never sleep do you....i think head mod requirement is to be an insomniac!

The reason I posted (this stupid thread) is because this year is the first in awile that I can think of that won the championship with
1) lots of "superstars"
2) none of whom made the olympic team (not even KG)
and
3) no international players ont he championship team (that I can think of)

one of the few times I can think of where it is feasible AND summer of the olympics
