I have watched maybe 5 minutes of AFL in my life... always looks stupid but I love football and I am bored and it looks like the playoffs are coming so explain this stuff to me.

I want to like it... Do you like it? Help me understand it. What are the rules.

Holler.

It's just like the NBA, but with a football that they don't have to dribble.

Actually, the NBA doesn't dribble half the time either.

Other than that...exactly the same.

No need to watch until half way through the 4th quarter...no defense...just like the NBA. :103631605

AFL is to football what slow pitch softball is to baseball.

That's about the best analogy there is too it.

What is there to understand. 8 on 8. Players play both ways with a couple exceptions. 50 yard field. On kickoffs, the returner can take the ball off the net. One receiver can run forward up to the line of scrimmage before ball is snapped without it being illeagal motionlike you would nornally see in football. All of the players are NFL and and major college rejects. Some were only halfway good in high school. The padding is out of bounds on what would be the sideline.

I think thats it. I don't find it exciting in the least bit. I rather watch some random high school football game in California on Fox sports than watch an arena game.

About as real a sport as softball or girls basketball

It used to be almost all of the players played both ways, but nowadays there's free substitution so the best people are on for offense and defense.

I bought falcons season tickets a few years back and they came with free Georgia Force season tickets. I went to the first game. It was in Phillips Arena. If you have ever been there they have a place where a few playstations and things show on bigscreens. Well after the first quater or period or whatever they play I found myself playing some hockey game while i waited for my friends to finish up th georgia force game. absolutely no interest as far as Im concerned. I thought I could get into it in person. Its awful.

Professional playground ball. Reminds me of that slam ball that tried to make a go of it several years back.
