Gas starts out as crudeoil hundreds if not thousands of ft below the earth. You have to bring it up, ship it to a refinery where they break it down into whatever use its fit for.
They then ship it to distributors who put in the additives and truck it hundreds if not thousnads of miles to individual gas stations where we but a it for $4.00 or so a gallon.

You walk up to a cow and squeeze her tits and get Milk which sells for $5.00 a gallon...

And Gas is high????????

Forget stealing a Brinks truck. How about rolling one the trucks carrying all that fuel? Rip out the GPS they have installed and your good to go. No armed guards to fight with...just a poor trucker who would gladly give up the truck than to try and play hero.

Surprised I haven't heard someone trying that yet.

A cow wouldn't produce a lot of milk, a well does. A cow eats. Milk has refrigeration cost, and packaging. Oil/gas is bulk.

Milk always used to cost much more than gas. I'd guess that milk used to cost 5-6 X of gas ?

If anything is cheap, it's milk, not gas.

German man torches car to protest high gas prices

BERLIN (AP) — A German man doused his BMW with gasoline and torched it on Friday in protest at skyrocketing fuel costs, police said. The unemployed 30-year-old man drove the black 1995 BMW 3-series sedan onto the lawn outside Frankfurt's convention center grounds at about 7:30 a.m., police spokesman Karlheinz Wagner said.

He then jumped out, emptied a canister of gas over the vehicle, and set fire to it, Wagner said.

By the time the fire department got to the scene, the car was entirely burned out.

The Bavarian man, whose name was being withheld because he has not been charged with a crime, told police that gas prices were so high he could no longer afford to drive the vehicle.

As in many countries, gasoline prices have risen steadily in Germany; a liter of regular gasoline now costs about euro1.55, or $9.40 per gallon.

Police were investigating whether the man could be charged with violating German environmental laws with the stunt, Wagner said. Penalties range from fines to five years in prison.
