June 26 (Bloomberg) -- New York Giants' fans will have to pay as much as $20,000 for the right to buy season tickets under a plan to raise money for a $1.6 billion stadium being built in New Jersey.

The Giants will join at least 17 other major U.S. sports franchises to sell so-called personal seat licenses, which require fans to pay a one-time fee before buying season tickets, the Super Bowl champions said in a statement.

The Giants said their PSL prices range from $1,000 to $20,000, with 90 percent of seats in the stadium's upper bowl having the lowest licensing fee. Fewer than 5,000 seats in the stadium, which will have a capacity of 82,500, will have a PSL price of $20,000, the Giants said.

Yet another scam

Examples like this are reasons I plan to never go to a professional sporting even live or buiy any merchandise. The only way I contribute to their salries is by watching it on TV and those deals are already in place anyway.

This is a scam just like property taxes and car insurance

The scary thing is the Giants have about 130,000 people on their waiting list for season tickets. Average Joe Fan is getting squeezed out.

Jets fans got a similar email:
Excerpt from the email
The Jets have taken on a substantial amount of debt to finance the construction of the new $1.3 billion stadium. Like other teams that have built stadiums in the recent past, the Jets are required by the NFL to pay back this construction debt quickly.

The Jets are surveying different types and terms of Personal Seat Licenses (PSLs) as one of the ways to help achieve this requirement. A PSL is an asset, like a taxi medallion, that is purchased in addition to the ticket that gives the holder ownership of their seat. This holder can then sell the seat license in the future, including for any profit, to someone else if the holder no longer wishes to purchase season tickets.

A few options they are thinking about (everything is per seat)

1) Lower level (50 yard line) – (coaches club)

Ticket Price - $6,250 per year

PSL - $15,000 upfront

2) Lower level (50 yard line)– (coaches club)

Ticket Price - $6,250 per year

PSL - $10,000 upfront AND $4,400 per year for 15 years

3) Middle Level (goal line) (east/west club)

Ticket Price - $5,250 per year

PSL - $5,000 upfront

4) Lower level (goal line)–

Ticket Price - $1,450 per year

PSL - $4,000 upfront AND $1,800 per year for 15 years

5) Upper Level (end zone)

Ticket Price - $900 per year

PSL - $500 upfront AND $500 per year for 5 years

6) Mid Level (end zone)

Ticket Price - $1,550 per year

PSL - $1,600 upfront AND $1,600 per year for 5 years

Fans as a whole should boycott these games just for an entire season. Then you would have stuff getting back to where it should be.

Like when A-rod opted out last year to get even more money. What should have happened and what would have happened if I were running things is no one would have been allowed to sign him for anymore than the league minimum. You do that a couple times and these guys weill stop pulling this shit.

Would be nice to se absolutely no one at Ginats stadium and other stadiums. People can just watch on TV anyway. Guys that completely suck can just get some 4 year contract and they are set for life

And how do these teams thank fans for coming out and supporting them. They charge 20 bucks to park, 8 bucks for a hot dog and 6 bucks for a beer.
