assume amicable, as in 50/50 split of assets.

How to proceed in a manner to limit legal fees ?

I can't do it much longer.

I expect she gets it all in the end anyway. I'm nearly suicidal ( being married).

Getting married was a huge mistake on my part. I need to get out of this disaster.

I have no point to even want to live being married, it's that bad !

To the point, how do you get divorced easily ?

I only want the computer, my old truck, my tools, and half of the house.

She can have the furniture, newer car, cat, etc.

The issue is I don't even really like her anymore, let alone Love her. She is too tied to CT, I want to not only leave CT, but leaving the USA would work , as well !

In no way do I want to sell condo in Clinton,ct, to move 25 miles away closer to her daughter nearer to Hartfort.

The move to me is to preferably leave the USA, I'd comprimise with say North Carolina.

I could be simple if she feels the same way.

Is she gonna put up any stink?

If this truly the case, you work everything out before you ever get an attorney. Then depending on the laws of your state its a really simple matter and costs a few hundred bucks.
The problems are not in getting the divorce, the problem comes in the property settlement so if you have that worked out already its gravy..

My mother and step father divorced about 8 yrs ago. the divorce was final in 6 months no problem. But the property settlement dragged on and on and about 3 yrs later the SOB died. Shes STILL going to court now with his heirs trying to work out a property settlement. So get that settlement done and in writing if possible then go hire an attorney.

IMO, you still get a lawyer so you don't get screwed down the road.

It sounds like you are giving her everything she wants. The only holdup could be the home. If she is willing to sell and move on, you shouldn't have a problem. If she wants to stay in the home and you want 50%, that could be an issue. Been there done that. Just give her everything she wants and move on.

I think parts of NC are another country, actually.

Good Luck with the divorce, hope it turns out well for you.

Many divorces start amicably. I have learned not to trust anything that can bleed for 7 days and not die. My ex-wife was able to milk me for a full year of spousal support before finally ageeing to the divorce.

Many have had success in hiring a Professional Mediator who will work with both of you to split up the property and speed up the divorce process.

You can get an attorney to represent both of you for purposes of divorcing - however, if she is going to fight - your going to have to get seperate attorneys - it does not seem like there is a lot of assets so this can definately be done - I believe there is alimony in CT - this divorce can proceed quickly and relatively fair - AS LONG AS SHE WANTS IT TO - so what's her story - does she know you can't stand her?

Thanks for sharing - just reassures me that I will never get married - I have no need to give a bitch a contract - Karmen Electra in her prime - says please marry me - no thanks - though I'd lead her on if it would help lead to several sessions of intercourse

If the two of you can actually agree on everything and it is truly amicable, you don't even need a "real" attorney. You could probably just do it through one of those quicky legal fee filer things or maybe just yourself, it is mainly filing paper work that is form based if it is truly a formality (no disputes). Alternatively, the two of you could agree to everything and just hire the attorney to do the filings for you and it would be much cheaper than fighting and filing motions and shit. First step is to find out if you are truly in agreement.

But if you don't agree, you each need your own attorney.

I expect to get nothing ( beyond say my clothing, sneakers, computer, hopefully the 2000 Ford truck), getting say 100k from the condo would be awesome (worth 250k).

Marriage just isn't working.

Being miserable doesn't serve either of us well. She won't be happy out of Ct, I don't see any reason to remain in Ct ( or even US).

Attorneys and realtors are 2 professions that should be eliminated completely. There is no need for either one of these professions. They do nothing but charge out the ass for it

Doug, does she know you want to get divorced? Does she want to get divorced? The resolution is totally dependent on how she's going to act.

Perhaps I don't especially like the the state of Connecticut ? I grew up in CT, born here in 1963, graduated HS in 1982, by about 1979 or so, I decided I wanted out of CT.... researched it a bit, San Francisco area was the 1st inclination, changed that to San Diego, actually targeted Oceanside,Ca, wound up first in Vista,Ca.... 20 miles away.

I could have stayed anywhere along the way, Flagstaff, Arizona .tempted me to stay.

Ct is a place ,I'm sick of being at. I'd move to NC or Texas, or Arkansas, etc, without a second thought, wife wouldn't. I'd move to a country with a different language like CR, or Panama, no problemo !
