Anyone hear about the threats made to two Boston latin players?!? Stemming from the brawl in bean town a while back?

Posted: June 30, 2008
staff reports

The Red Sox and Major League Baseball are sending security teams to St. Petersburg, Fla., for the Red Sox-Rays series because of a threat made against Boston players, the Boston Herald reports.
The Red Sox received a mailed threat, believed to be postmarked in Memphis, that targeted black and Latin players, citing at least two players by name, the newspaper reports. The named players will have extra security during their time in Florida, even away from Tropicana Field.
The three-game series begins tonight and ends Wednesday.
The FBI and police departments in St. Petersburg, Boston, Memphis and Baltimore have been made aware of the threat, which constitutes a federal crime, the Herald reports.
The Baltimore authorities are involved because a suspect in the case is believed to be from Maryland but living in Tennessee, a source told the newspaper. The suspect was not in custody as of Monday morning. Neither Red Sox nor MLB officials would comment on the matter. But the threat is believed to be unrelated to the brawl between the Red Sox and Rays players on June 5 at Fenway Park.

This could be in the back of some of the Boston players minds? Does this favor Tampa? Im thinking yes...

Water is wet, Manny Ramirez involved in clubhouse scrape
By 'Duk
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the latest episode of "That's Just Manny Being Manny!"

In this edition, witness Manny Ramirez's latest controversy as a report in the Providence Journal says he pushed Boston's traveling secretary, Jack McCormick, to the ground after a dispute over his request for 16 tickets in Houston.

Key plot points include the situation escalating with Manny's quick temper ("Just do your job!" he reportedly said), the two being separated by the ever-present "onlookers" and the closed-door apology from Ramirez to McCormick, a mea culpa the Red Sox hope will solve everything until the next installment of TJMBM.

Post-show discussion opportunities include, "Other than a difference of 505 career homers, how was this attack different from Shawn Chacon's tussle with Ed Wade?" and "Just what would it take for a future Hall of Famer to get bounced from his team?"

hopefully all this non-sense takes a toll on boston tonight...go rays!
