Im going to atlantic city in 2 weeks for a few days and im just looking for some new fun ways to make some money. I go about once every 3 months and always have a great time. I dont have a huge bankroll but enjoy bringing home some cash. I usally make my money playing blackjack. I really enjoy craps the most, but it doesnt always work out. Ive also played roulette, some hold'em, and my girlfriends favorite game the big wheel. Ive played 3 card poker a few times and would like to play it some more but the odds dont seem that great, and ive always wanted to try some bacarratt.

So whats your favorite game for fun, which one do you make the most money at, and what is your strategy. Thanks for any opinions, and strategies

By not playing in the casino. If you're not counting cards, using a computer for roulette or you haven't practised your dice throwing technique thousands of times outside of a casino, I suggest you do the same.

I understand what your saying MR J, I dont expect to make a living in a weekend. Were just going for fun for the gf's b-day thats why I put the comment about the big wheel (what a retarded game). Was just wondering what other people do for fun while trying to make some cash.

I'll sit down at a blackjack table with $1000 and play hard at them for 10-15 minutes. After that I am either up $1000-$2000 or busted. It's the only way I win otherwise the longer I stay....

Poker, roulette or blackjack I guess, although I haven't gambled in a casino for maybe 5 years. Hoping to win cash would be a better description ;)

Making real money in a casino is RARELY fun. So, pick one or the other. You're either there to work and manage your money wisely or your there to have fun with friends. You really cant get both.

Either way, I don't think there's any beatable games in AC. Trust me, I used to scout the tables for CBJN and there hasn't been a good game in years. :103631605

Like Mr J says, if you're not an advantage player
(i.e. counting cards) you are there to lose money. Every bet you
place is a losing bet.

That being said, if you go in knowing that, and are there for cheap
entertainment then have fun.

But too many people go in with the misguided attitude that the
casino is there to make them money. 95+% of people that go into
casinos are losing players. And, most of the people that tell you they
win at the casinos (long term) are liars.

The Best Casino Game Bets

The best casino games to play are the ones with the lowest house edge or ones where the player has an advantage. Some bets are better than others. Here are the 10 best bets and games to play in the casino

#1 Casino Poker

Poker is a game of skill which is a big factor in determining the winner. The players are competing against each other and not against the house. There is no house edge except for a small amount that the casino takes out of each pot. Leaning how to play the game properly will give you a big advantage over less knowledgeable players

#2 Blackjack ( counting cards )

Learning to count cards can give the player a 1-2 percent edge over the casino. Card counting is a skill that takes practice to master. It is not illegal but counters must disguise there skills or they can be barred from playing. In New Jersey you can’t be barred but they can force you to flat bet or shuffle up on you if you are caught.

#3 Video Poker

Video poker is another game of skill that has a small house edge if you make the correct playing decisions. Some video poker games offer over 100 percent payback to players utilizing perfect mathematical strategy. Many machines have a small house of less than ½ of a percent. The house edge is determined by the pay table and a player can determine the payback of the machine by reading the schedule

#4 Backjack Basic Strategy

Playing Blackjack basic strategy will lower the house edge to less than one percent. The house edge is based on the number of decks used and the rules of the game. A player can determine the house edge from this information. With basic strategy you are basing your decisions to hit split or stand on set rules based the math of the game

#5 Craps Don't pass/ Don't come

The Don’t Pass and Don’t come in the game of craps is just slightly better than the pass line bet. The house edge is 1.14 percent. You can lower this to .59 percent by laying double odds. Most players however like to bet with the shooter on the passline
( I don't like this way of playing Craps, and the People at the Table won't like you either )

# 6 Craps Passline/ come

The Passline and Come bets in the game of craps offer a low house edge of 1.41 percent. You can lower it to less than one percent (.61) if you take double odds on your bet

# 7 Pai Gow Banker

When playing Pai Gow a player may choose to act as the Banker during the game. When you bank the game you pay a five percent commission to the house. You win the bet of any player you beat. Pai Gow requires skill in setting of the hands but a skilled player can gain the advantage over a less knowledgeable player

# 8 Baccarat Banker

The banker bet in Baccarat has a smaller house edge than the player bet but it requires you to pay a commission when you win. The house edge is 1.06 percent for the Banker bet

# 9 Baccarat Player

The player bet is also a good bet with a house edge of only 1.24 percent. The Baccarat bet a player wants to avoid is the tie bet which is one of the worst bets you can make.

# 10 Craps place # 6 & #8

Placing the six and eight at the craps table is one of the best bets in the game. The house edge is only 1.52 percent. The 6 and 8 are rolled more frequently than any number other than the 7.

When I first turned 21 I went to Tahoe and wondered where this place had been all my life as couldn't do no wrong.

Craps was the game, betting the field, hard ways two way yo's and so on.

I didn't know how I was winning but I was winning.

Then I started to read up and haven't won since.

The field is the worst bet on the board, hard ways are a sucker bet and on the hop pays much less than the true odds,go figure before I knew the risk I was taking I really didn't care was just having fun.

I was in Vegas for a week last year and never played one hand of blackjack, was in Reno for SB played BJ only because friends were and realized why I stay away.

Top 10 WORST Casino Bets

#1 Live Keno

Keno is a game similar to the lottery. The house edge can run 25 percent or higher. The odds for drawing any number of spots doesn’t change, the house edge comes from the payout for the winning numbers. This varies from casino to casino

#2 Big Six Wheel ( your GF's Fav ) Tell her to buy herself a piece of Jewelry and call it a day

The Big Six or Wheel of Fortune is an old carnival game with equally bad odds. The house edge varies from 11 to 24 percent depending on the number the player bets

# 3 Caribbean Stud side Bet

The side bet for the progressive jackpot in Caribbean Stud varies a little by the size of the jackpot but it rarely reaches the amount to make the bet worthwhile. The average house edge is about 26 percent

# 4 Baccarat Tie Bet

The Baccarat Banker and Player bets are two of the best bets you can make. However the tie bet in Baccarat is one of the worst. It has a high 14.36 percent edge. Stick to the banker or player bets

# 5 Blackjack Insurance Bet

The insurance bet in Blackjack is just another side bet that should be avoided. The house edge is around 8 percent. You are not really insuring anything

# 6 Blackjack Hunch Play

Deviating from Blackjack basic strategy can make Blackjack one of the worst games in the casino. A player can give up 20 percent or more playing hunches.

# 7 Let it Ride Side Bet

The house edge for the side bet is based on the pay table which varies from casino to casino. Even the best pay table has a high double digit house edge that ranges from 13 to 36 percent

# 8 Craps Proposition Bets

The proposition bets on the craps table are the bets on the hard ways and the other one roll bets. These have a house edge that can reach as high as 16.7 percent

# 9 Roulette ( I once made over $18K playing, but Don't play anymore )
I just had a Very Lucky Day.

The bets on the double zero American wheel has a house edge of 5.26 percent on all bets except the five number bet. The five number 0-00-1-2-3 bet is called the basket bet and has a house edge of 7.89 percent. The European wheel with a single zero has a lower house edge of 2.7 percent

# 10 Casino War Tie

Casino war is the same as the kid’s game where you each draw a card and the high card wins. There is a tie bet that can be made when playing Casino War. You are betting that your card will tie the dealers. If you tie the dealer’s card you get paid 10 to 1 for your tie bet. It carries a high house edge of 18.65 percent

Per Bet All, that is what I do.

don't pass, take full odds
don't come, take full odds
don't come, take full odds
don't come, take full odds

stop betting for that shooter, if he knocks down 4 bets, wait for the next shooter. Each time I get up 20% from initial cash, I squirrel that 20%, if I lose everything I have in front of me, I walk away and play again later. Rarely reach into my pocket at the table, usually only when I have doubled my money I will pull half of it out and increase my base bet by 50%.

Unfortunately it takes much of the table fun out of craps since you win when everyone else loses (except on the don't come bets you may have up if there is a come out roll 7). no cheering when everyone else does and no celebrating when you win unless you want to piss off everyone else at the table.

Thanks for all the info betallsports. I totally agree with her buying jewelry instead of that damn wheel. Its still 2 weeks away so I may do some reading about bacarratt.

Im really just going for fun. Were there 2 nights, the first night ill probably try to sit down and play some serious blackjack playing with basic strategy.

The 2nd night is when ill go with oldirty's plan and go play some low limits and get hammered with everyone there.

martingale it and thank me later.

Worst advice ever.

Have you ever lost > 20+ hands of blackjack in a row?
I have, more than once.

Try figuring out what one's bet size would be after 20 losses if
you start with a $5 bet.
