Sitting 1st row right behind Cards dugout...

Top of the 3rd...1 out...Ryan Church up. Turns on a pitch and bounces it over the Cardinals dugot...coming right at me...and I barehand it....2 hands of course.

Held it up for a few seconds and got a nice response from the crowd:103631605

Sittin there in the 8th and a father and his two young boys came down and sat where we were sittin. (6 & 8 maybe) Well anyways they were amazed on how close they were and were totally enthralled in the game.

Cards went down in the 8th and me and my buddy decided to leave. The two young boys with theyre father reminded me alot of me with my dad when we had season tickets for the cards....

And I remeber when i was about theyre age i was at a game (cards vs expos) and Tim Wallach hit a ball tords our section. The man who caught it ended up giving me the ball and i still remeber it like it was yesterday....

Were about to leave and i decide im going to give the ball to the little guys....Give them the ball and they are exstatic....Tell the dad that someone did the same for me when i was theyre age and never forgot it....

The dad shook my hand and thanked me...

Just made me realize how I cant wait to have my own son and experience something like that with him....Really puts things into perspective.

nice...whats your picks tomarrow?
karma baby...
Funny thing is cards were down by two and on the way home Duncan hit a 2 run bomb to tie it and the Glaus hit a walk off...had cards big....and on the way home whitesox hit a walk off....had them big as well so if i ever believed in karma, now would be it.

what a selfless thing to do, kudos to you and hopefully those boys will remember that game as fondly as the one where you received your foul ball.....plus, sick catch! i tried catching a foul ball during a AAA Omaha City Royals game when I was 12 or so, almost broke 2 of my fingers lol.....

That was the main thing...to give those kids a memory as great as the one i have...ive got a few foul balls anyways...willie mcgee, benito santiago.

I just remebered how excited i was when I was given that ball and that they would enjoy the ball FAR more than I....

I dunno...theres something about a Dad and Son at a baseball game that gets me...great memories of me and my dad going to games

You had money on the Cards big and left the game early????

This story is bullshit. No poster here would ever leave a game early if they had money on it.

Hell, I had a Spurs game to go over 188 one time and didn't leave even when the score was 88 - 66 with 3 minutes left.

So if i would have stayed the outcome would have been different?:think2:
Check Ryan Churchs second at bat....rolled over a ball over the cards dugout...i caught it.
Fox Sports Midwest is replaying the game at 12 pm central time....already recording it to see if im on.

Stuff like this is what makes baseball the best sport in america. These kids brought back great memories for you and you returned the favor giving them something they will remember for a long time. I'm sure this is something that happens fairly often at Busch. I went there for a game a couple years ago. Being a lifelong Pirates fan I hate the Cardinals, but it's hard to argue that that stadium is home to the best fans in all of baseball.

Thats what it about...the kids. I had my fun catching it. I hope it dont sound like im trying to toot my own horn, it was a easy decision after seeing how excited those kids were about the game, close seats, pujols, etc. That ball means a hell of alot more to them then me.
