reyes attacks keith on plane to philly.....

as per John Minko on the update from the FAN..."a family member told reyes about keith Hernandez's comments about playing soft, and took it up with him on the teams charter flight to philly, no punches were exchanged but pushing and in the face arguments ensued"

lol I'm in Keith's corner on this one

Reyes is another athlete in a long line of athletes that has million dollar talent, with a 5 cent brain.

See him the other night when the official scorer gave him on a throw to first that went bad.
The error could have gone either way, Delgado or Reyes, but went to Reyes, who immediatly went into pout mode on the field, just inches from having a meltdown in front of 50000 fans and millions on tv.

Big baby.

no way...thats some funny shit. But yeah im with keith too...Reyes could be one of the most dynamic players in the game. (prolly still is though) If he showed up everyday he could be a Hanley Ramirez.

Reyes is the third best shortstop in the NL East.

I think Reyes is the loser here. He's a baby. Who was on two world champions? Hernandez. Who sulked his way through September last year (he wasn't "worn out"---sheesh). Reyes the dancin', glove throwing, get-yourself-thrown-out-in-key-situations and then smile about it baby.

And so it goes......

unbelievable..

here's a team coming off a blow out win in a series against a top NL team. The Mets really could have won 3 of 4 if the pen doesn't melt down.

They have the first place Phillies on deck in a 4 game set that could get them back in the race, even with all the turmoil, and he pulls this crap? It's just a big headache and distraction.

grow up

If everyone in baseball can accept "Manny being Manny" with his showing up the opposing teams on homeruns, why can't Reyes accept "Keith being Keith" with his "to the point" critiques of players? Keith has always done this.

But the bottom line is - this is how Keith is as a commentator - he isn't going to change. He is allowed to speak his mind. This makes Reyes look more like a baby to confront him in the plane, imo. Just let it go. Everyone knows that you don't let your emotions get the best of you on the field in front of the camera and the fans. Reyes' actions were wrong, whether he was mad at himself or mad at Delgado.

Reyes is the third best shortstop in the NL East.

He's also the third best in the game, it just so happens that all the good SS's play in the NL East. I actually rank him second ahead of Rollins, but I could see why you'd have him third.

Going by that logic you could also say why can't people just accept "Reyes being Reyes."

This kid is going to explode ala Latrell Spreewell. In the offseason the Mutts are going to ship him off.

Just so everyone knows, the NY papers are reporting that this happened on the flight TO St Louis, which would have been this past Sunday.

So to relate this to how the Mets may play today probably doesn't make too much sense.

You have to admit, Reyes is pretty immature. Look how he came back from the clubhouse after Manuel took him out in Manuel's 1st game. He looked like a kid looking up at asking for forgiveness. If you are going to be a leader you have to act like one!

Throwing your glove and glasses down to pout like a 2 year old is NOT the right thing to do when you are 25 years of age. That is even more disrespectful to do than what Keith said on the air which in fact is the truth. Jose Reyes had literally disappeared from mid June of 07 until the middle of May this year because he is a pouting fragile individual who doesn't know how to handle pressue

I agree he seems immature, but I was just saying going by the logic you were saying of "Manny being Manny", you could also say it's just "Reyes being Reyes." I honestly didn't think it was a big deal that he threw his glove on the dirt a week ago, but when you start hearing stuff like this time after time it gets to be a problem

Also there is no way Reyes is the leader of this team. The leaders need to be guys like Santana, Delgado and Alou. Even guys like Castillo that have been deep in the playoffs before, but not a kid like Reyes. Wright is more of the leader than Reyes.

I also don't agree with the people saying he isn't even that good. Sure he's immature and turning into a bit of a problem, but he is the second most talented SS in the MLB after Ramirez IMO, and you can send his whiny ass to Toronto for Eckstein any time you want. Hell, we'll even throw in MacDonald and Aaron Hill.
