Did you know?-The Mustache was the trademark of one of the greatest teams in history?

Ahhh being a Met fan as a kid I hated them with a passion. It came with the territory. But the early 70`s Oakland A`s were one of the greatest teams in MLB history, hands down. At some point circa 1970-1973 every player on the active major league roster had a mustache at the same time. Although by far the most famous was Rollie Fingers, their great reliever. This was done to show team unity, and this team was a dynasty. With the recent Jason Giambi mustache hype, thought I`d pay tribute to that A`s squad. He is a picture of those player who doned the diamond for Charley Finley. Some might have not have the stach cause hard to find it. The Oakland A`s official site is garbage when it comes to paying homage to their greatest team ever...

A side note about this type of thing..I`ll never forget that the Miami Heat once shaved all of their heads in the early 90`s as a sign of team unity. 12 of the 13 men on that roster shaved their heads. All except Rony Seikaly, their young center out of Syracuse. He flat out refused to because his nose was so big he would look like an instant gargoyle or a GOON from the classic Popeye cartoon:nohead:
