It's hard to believe that the best the A's could get is a back up outfielder and infielder, a three starter at best, and a catcher who may never see the light of the big leagues.
This is a horrible deal for the A's. Gaudin might be better than Gallagher and they are around the same age.
This deal makes no sense. I don't know what drove the A's to do this trade. It's hard for me to believe that the trade they made was the best they could get for a guy like Harden. Unless the A's know something about Harden's health that we don't.

Don't doubt Billy Beane. The guy has a way of trading for random players who turn into excellent ones.
