When you have

Tire
Pressure
Monitor

does rotation screw it up ?

I got an offer in the mail for rotation and balance for $20, but extra for TPM systems. I called the shop ( Meineke), they didn't even know the coupon was out, and the guy seemed to know little of these systems.

All the tires have to be inflated to the exact same pressure including the spare , this can be aggravating for a mechanic and sometimes takes awhile to adjust them to make the warning light go out. So they are allowing for this possibility in advance. Some shops are now usuing nitrogen to fill them with since it can be more accurately checked and will not respond to changes in temperture as much so they may be charging extra for that also.

The spare has a sensor ?

While we are on the subject of tires, I have another question:

The car 2007 CR-V was bought new. I expect to get 60k miles from the original tires. I rotate them every 15k miles, it's due now at 45k.

The spare ( full-size), has never been used.

What should I do with a new spare, and 4 worn out tires at 60K ?

Maybe buy 3 new tires, use the spare as a new tire, and keep the best old tire as a spare ? Then I guess I'd have to buy the exact same tire ?

Many places will fill your tires with nitrogen when you buy a new set. It does help with the pressure when the temperture changes.

So what does one do with a brand new spare tire ?

Is there a reasonable way to rotate it in ?

I'm not a huge believer in tire rotation anyway, I think the cost of rotation negates extra tread life ?

I'd almost say just do it once at 30k ( expecting 60K life), but I'm doing 15k intervals presently.

........................................................................................................

How do these sensors work ( RFID ?), in particular on the spare.

Ideally u should be using the spare as part of the rotation if its not 1 of those 30mph doughnuts. That way u get life of 5 tires instead of 4 but also a spare that has been sitting idle under ur car for 60K is too dryed out to now use as a brand new tire and should be throwed away anyway..

car is under 2 years old, will be two around Halloween. I'm almost certain its a real tire.
