Shit about time, I was wondering if he had one of those Matt Millen type blackmail deals on the Mariners. Good riddance, Mr. Underperform

This is the final year so they only have to pay the last part of the deal unless someone picks him up.

what happens to the money? anyone know?

as far as i know, baseball contracts are guaranteed money. So he will get paid to twiddle his thumbs at home.

Unless someone else picks him up, the mariners have to pay him. If someone else grabs him from waivers, they only need to pay for last half of the 2008 season, Which is probably about 8 million dollars.

Mariners have to pay him regardless. Nobody is going to pick him up for more than the league minimum.
