Found this on AOL but there has to be a worse one in some sport.

"Bell is now shooting .267 this year, and has managed to play 594 minutes. He is on pace to play over 1600 minutes for the season, and should his shooting not improve dramatically it will be the worst performance in the near-60 year history of the league."

That was after Bell signed a 5-year, $18 million dollar deal.

Who has a better one?

Jones:

151 at-bats, .171 average, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs

That is pretty freakin horrible.

At least Sexson has double digit homers to go with his .218 average.

I don't remember his exact stats, but Maroth had something like 22-25 losses with the Tigers a few years back when they were the definition of crap. I think he was their ace too...

When Detroit won the World Series in 68 (AL Kaline, Mickey Lolich, Denny McClain) their starting SS was Ray Oyler. AB 215 H 29 Avg. .135.
No one could do worse than that. In the series they switched their centerfielder Mickey Stanley to SS. Oyler got in a few games as a defensive replacement.

I think we might be seeing it this year with Barry Zito.
He is 4-12 now and projected to go 7-21 with a 5.62 ERA.

Couple that with a $126 million price tag...ouch.
