If a team signs Barry Bonds now, his agent said he could be in its lineup by the end of the month.
"Give him 10 days to hit off live pitching, and he'll be ready," agent Jeff Borris told USA Today.
Borris told the newspaper that Bonds continues to work out. He would be available to play this season because his trial date for perjury and obstruction of justice isn't until March 9, 2009.
However, Borris told USA Today that he's not currently talking to any clubs about Bonds, who turns 44 this month.
"I am not talking to any club about Barry Bonds," Borris said, "because they all made it very clear to me they are not interested in him. Every club.
"I can't believe he doesn't have a job. No one has offered even the minimum salary. He made the All-Star team last year, and there's no reason to believe he wouldn't have a repeat performance in 2008, except for the conspiracy against him."
In recent days, the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks, who both have shortages in their outfields, have been mentioned as possible landing spots for the slugger, but both teams have denied interest.
A high-level executive with the Diamondbacks told ESPN's Pedro Gomez the club has no interest in Bonds, that Bonds' name simply came up the way every other possible one did and the club has no intention of pursuing him.
"He was discussed internally like we do every guy. Nothing else," the source told ESPN.
Bonds, who is baseball's all-time leading home run hitter with 762, hit .276 last season for the San Francisco Giants with 28 homers, 66 RBIs and a .480 on-base percentage.

Too Bad there's No Team Ready to take Bonds !! :missingte

Too bad the price is an issue...a bunch of teams could use him...if Bonds ever decided to take the minimum for the rest of the year, a few teams might be interested...Mets, Angels, Phillies, Red Sox, and Yanks to name a few...

Bonds is still a very good player and could hit 25+ HR (in a full season). The only issue with him is the media circus that comes along wit him and the dough he wants. I will say I'd be more than happy to see him in a Jays uniform though. He might be an asshole, but at least he can hit a fucking baseball.

The threat of Barry in the lineup is almost more valuable than his hitting. His name on the lineup card helps the guy in front and behind him immediately.

I believe a lot of people allow their emotions and personal feelings to take away from the facts. Yes, he was on the juice, but then again so was everyone else, but they weren't walking 150+ times and such a high OBP.

Barry has to bat 6th or you wind up with 3 straight lefty sticks.

Surprised anyone else thought of this...good catch!

Tico Kev....I'm sure Boston Greg is having a hell of a time at JoeyFitz's place with 8 of his friends and I'm sure Joey's beer cooler has been emptied and refilled a couple times....:toast:give everyone my best at the Landing!

All I can say is teams would be crazy to put Sexton in their lineup instead of Bonds. Fuck the BS bottomline is production for a team trying to make the post season.

Blacklisted. I would bet he could be used on many teams. Only time will tell but I am pretty sure we will never see him in a MLB uniform ever again.

bonds is strictly american league IMO. went thru the teams and the only fit i can see is the A's & then only if he plays for the minimum. twins, but bonds is lefthanded. mauer, morneau, then bonds. and again with the twins, only play for the minimum. there is no place for barry, unless he wants to play for no money. and he has to play for a contender. teams like toronto would be wasting time and money on barry.
