Comeback Player: Brad Lidge- from nearly pulling a mark wholers and falling off the earth has come back to be a stud in a hitters park, cheers. 20 SV, .95 ERA
Fall off Player of the Year (pitcher): Brad Penny- was becoming a front line starter and boom even in a division that sucks offensively he has gone 5-9 with a 5.88 ERA and currently has landed on the DL
Runner Up (pitcher) Ian Snell- I know Pitt is not all that talented but where has this guy gone, 3-7 ERA of 5.84, WHIP approaching 2
Fall of Player of the Year (Batter): Andruw Jones- Obviously he began this slide last year in Atlanta but not nearly to this extent, Defensively he has been sluggish as well, 152 AB's and this guy that hit 50 before has 2 HR, 9RBI and a .171 BA approaching the break, what did you pay for LA?
Runner UP (Batter): Jason Varitek- Where has the bat gone, we may need to see doug mirabelli back to catch everybody the way he has hit and he is an ALL-Star??? 7HR, 28RBI, .220 BA on a team where Elvis could put up better numbers.
AL MVP: Ian Kinsler- not the type of guy you think about in this spot and given where Texas may be at the end of the season will most certainly hurt his chances but he has been the total package on offense: 14HRs, 53RBI from any 2B prior to the all-star break is absolutly impressive, including a .335 BA and 23 SB, improve on the defense and stay in the race and this could be the guy if josh hamilton doesnt overshadow him all year.
NL MVP: Chase Utley- 4 solid candidates for this in utley, C Jones, Berkman and Hanley Ramirez, one enormous difference is that Philly is in first place and will likely be in the playoffs. 25HR, 68RBI 66R, .294 BA all while Howard has been relatively cold and has kept this team out in front thus far.
AL Cy Young: Mariano Rivera- well overdue to win this from the closer role, has been ultra impressive this late in his career, other two major competitors right now are Ducherer from oakland and cliff lee from cleveland, major problem for them is that they are unlikely to be around in a race at the end of the year, current stats: 4W, 23S, 1.06 ERA, .64 WHIP, better than a K per inning. IF the yanks would stop farting around and hit the ball he would have more meaningful opportunities.
NL Cy Young: Cole Hamels- pitches on a first place team as the ace of the staff holding an ERA of 3.18 in a hitters ballpark and has a ton of K's on the season.
Predicted World Series: Chicago Cubs 4 games to 2 over the Boston RedSox
Ill check back in October and see if I could manage to get even one of these right.
