There are bad calls, and then there is Doug Eddings' call tonight

There are bad calls on bangers that could go either way. Then there are bad calls that are blatantly obvious. Then there are completely horseshit calls. Then there is the worst call ever. And then there's this call.

I could watch every game played in MLB for the rest of my life, and there's no way I could see another call this bad. Look for it on Sportscenter. Lugo's ground ball to first with the pitcher covering.

It amazes me that these umpires make 6 figure incomes, and when they're not calling balls and strikes they have to make maybe 1 or 2 close calls per game TOPS. And as often as not they f#%k it up.

Very questionable call, its like getting caught stealing money from a bank with the dye on your clothes and denying the fact that you did it...make it more obvious you fucking cheater

I was watching the game and could not believe it. It looks twice as bad when they slow it down on replay. I could not believe he did not get showered with coins or hot dogs or something! Can't see how that ump made that call unless he is on something tonight...

I loved the still shot of his foot on the bag, and the ball still about 6 feet away from the glove.

Lugo safe by a MILE and called out. I do have the Red Sox RL, but I couldn't even get mad. The only thing I could feel was complete shock.

I saw this one live and could not believe it.

You see alot of close plays at first and to the naked eye you can not tell if the runner is safe or out.

On this play it is so obvious that you wonder what these umpires are actually doing on the field. Terrible call.

Wow, that was terrible. It looked a lot closer in real time, but still was a pretty obvious call. It probably wasn't the worst call I've ever seen, but that was pretty damn bad.

Did it change the game at all though?

Said this before, Iverson was pushed really hard out of bounds with under a minute left in like a 6 point game and he went i mean flying out of bounds from the push and he was called for a turnover. He than got pissed of course as the call was utter horseshit and got tossed.

There was no explanation for that call

Real bad but it happens more than you think.
No. Nothing like this. There are bad calls, but this was a fucking disgrace. I umpired baseball for 15 years, starting with 9-10 year olds and working my way up to Div 1. I've worked with some bottom of the barrell horseshit umpires along the way. I've never seen a call botched this bad. An absolute travesty that a call this bad is possible on any level of baseball, let alone MLB.

It did not look remotely close in real time, and I find it impossible that you've seen a worse call.

This call was 10 times worse than the call tonight.
