Maybe Cashman thinks they dont strike out often enough as a team...

Sexson is worthless.

Posted earlier in the week about this bs.

Bonds would make a better impact. Even as just a part time DH. Especially with the short porch in Left.

They're not thinking about signing Sexson for his bat...but for his glove (see Betemit last night). Yanks already have a slugging left handed DH. And lefty bats are a plenty in that lineup.

Yanks also have signed Eric Milton & have worked out Victor Zambrano. Apparently yes, it has gotten that bad.

Sexson's offense is so terrible, i would only want him as a late inning replacement.

Kinda...and kinda not...

The Yanks don't foresee Betemit as the regular defensive first baseman.

If they sign Sexson...then they're foreseeing a defensive upgrade at the 1st base position (starting, or off the bench).

That defensive upgrade would also bring good splits against lefties (.344/.423/.623).

He would probably never play against righty pitchers...as the Yanks offense is lefty driven already.

Still...I would open up a roster spot for Bonds if I was a GM. Just to have a guy on the bench you could bring in to be a threat in late innings. Cancer?? Its the yanks. Bonds & A-rod in the same lineup would be historic. HR King and the future king....unless madonna fucks his skills away.

I agree, Bonds could still be an asset to a team.

It probably won't happen, and in this specific case...is not what the Yankees are looking for (in regards to Sexson).

A late inning defensive replacement should be the last thing this team is concrened about. A big bat that lives on base (Bonds) should be the first thing addressed when trying to pick someone up. The lack of offensive consistency this year is sickening. Why they haven't picked up the phone yet is beyond me. The Yankees already are a traveling circus so bringing Bonds in shouldn't even draw a flinch.

All good points . He would be stricltly a platoon from the right side and break up the left handed heavy line up . I think they will do this.

You said it perfectly I am a yankee fan and this team is a mess IMO they need a LF,CF(I think gardener I love this kid), 1b and C ...........the good thing is last year at the break they were .500 this year they are 4 or 5 games over the bad news is I don't think this team can do what last years team did ...........but the Rays should be the fade of the 2nd half IMO

Are we thinking about how much Bonds would be vs Sexson?

As I understand it, Seattle is paying (ie getting hosed) the Sexson contract so Yankess would only have to pay Sexson the minimum salary (200k).

If Yankees want to sign Bonds, they would have to initiate a new contract.
