Why not?

If he can get more money over there AND play a lot more minutes (even be the focal point in some cases)... makes sense to me

childress deal has a opt out clause where he can return to the nba at the end of each season. didnt want to play the hawks because they wouldnt trade him since he wants more playing time.

delfino is nobody. get back to me when an average player chooses the europe over the nba, and on a permanent basis, not some 1 year thing like childress. i guarantee you childress is in the nba before the start of the 09-10 season

The real reason is Euros are worth more than US dollars. At the end of the season if you're making US dollars you lose some money since the US dollar keeps dropping while making Euros your money goes up through the year. Just like that Brazillian model wanted to be paid Euros because she knows Euros keep going up in value.

If I'm not an absolute superstar in the NBA getting paid 30+ mill a year with endorsements, then I would personally rather go play in Europe, as long as I'm making a few mill each season. Europe is one of the best places to live arguably, you probably don't have the media on you after every bad game like they are in North America, and the league is probably less stressful and more fun.

Plus, everybody makes fun of the NBA now for being fixed, and even though that Celtics/Lakers match wasn't a fix (for both teams to get there) most likely, it added fuel to the fire.
