Where are the volleyball sharps?

Are you allowed to, rather than set the ball w/ 2 hands to a teammate, use 2 hands to hit the ball over the net w/ a similar motion? What's the rule on this? Seems like it would be permitted, but my friend who used to play volleyball said this was illegal, though his explanation left a lot to be desired. I can understand if both hands don't make contact with the ball simultaneously, which would be a double-hit, but otherwise, don't see what's wrong. Thanks

I don't see why it'd be illegal, seeing as how technically when one blocks a spike at the night, he/she's using both hands to do so.

Then again, I don't know a thing about volleyball.

I would always back set in 2 man beach was my signature play. back set over the net. I use to hold court all day with Olympian player Carlos Briceno.
