SportSavant made a great pick yesterday and cashed a nice middle which made me think...What was best the pick at the forum and who made it?

For a non-forum pick...Lou Diamond picking Chris Moneymaker was legendary.

A game/wager to remember for the ages gang!

The study, insights, effort, patience, and intelligence of so many of you made this a fantastic night and as Jman pointed out, one of the all-time best threads here ever.

Now lets not bask in the glory to long, tommorrow they sing the NATIONAL ANTHEM all over again and we must remain focused.

You ain't kidding Ice. Great thread and pick.:103631605

Most of my freinds do not gamble so to share the experience with someone even on a posting forum is why we are all here.

I'll say Railbird.

Edit: Oops, just re-read the thread title. I originally thought it said "prick".

ACE-ACE sucks, but his "fixed" UConn bowl game a couple years ago was pretty sweet.

Did somebody actually pick Moneymaker the year he won for the WSOP before the tournament began?

Yes Lou Diamond did. Mind you, in 2003 there was only 839 players but still impressive.

I'm calling bullshit on this. He randomly picked a complete no-name to win the thing, I'm not buying it.

Not bullshit. I remember reading this somewhere but the story is Diamond was on the rail of a WSOP tournament before the main event. Diamond was so impressed by Moneymaker he went up to him even without knowing him and told him he was betting he would win the WSOP Main Event.

Moneymaker has confirmed this to be true.

Sounds like a cute little story made up after the fact. From what I understand, he isn't a very good player. Not the type of player someone knowledgeable would say "that guy is good, watch him". I don't know enough to say one way or the other. Not to mention that he chose CM out of 838 other choices. Like I said, sounds like bull shit made up after the fact to make for a nice story.

Moneymaker is full of shit and so is Lou Diamond. There was a thread about this a while back over at the LVA sports forum and Nolan Dalla, the tournament director, made a post and completely refuted everything Diamond claimed. Something about CM not even being on the board until after Day 1 and Dalla not knowing that Moneymaker was his real name and having to track him down and get his name so he could put him on the board.

I know most of you weren't around, but someone on a forum posted Cincinnati in the 1919 World Series.
