If it's not broke don't fix it. I have been going against Tampa Bay for awhile now on the road and don't see a reason to stop now. Halladay is 0-2 against Tampa Bay this year but like AJ Burnett Monday night both of those losses were at Tampa Bay. I think Halladay will be a little more than motivated to win this one. Much of the Tampa staff has built up great numbers at home to make them appear much better than they are. Matt Garza has a road ERA over 6 this year but he's been so good at home that is probably why this line is being kept fairly low. Not crazy about laying in the 150 neighborhood but I really the Blue Jays in this one. Tampa Bay not hitting the ball much at all and they just aren't a good road team nor an elite team. Like I said last night, Toronto is taking this series very seriously. They lost 5 out of 6 at Tampa lately and they are trying to exact revenge here. They are also playing pretty good ball having now won 6 out of 7. At the beginning of the season Halladay vs. Garza in Toronto and the line would be -200 plus. Now it's 150. I know Tampa is improved but their offense leaves a lot to be desired.

Minnesota looks like a nice play as well. Perkins for Minnesota has been pitching pretty well and lefties give the White Sox problems. The White Sox are a slugging type team that does better outdoors with warm weather not necessarily much of a team for average. Of course Minnesota is a hitter's park so not sure how much difference that makes. Richard starts for the White Sox and he was knocked around by the Rangers and not real sure why this is line is this low. Twins are solid at home and have a solid pen. Richard will likely need to go deep for the White Sox to win this one as long as Perkins pitches well. Twins want this series so we will see what happens. Like the Twins - hopefully everyone else won't like them as well.

Kansas City - I think at this point in the season Kansas City is a better team than Oakland. I have liked Oakland and their style for awhile now but they just don't have much going for them right now. Kansas City has the better lineup and quite possibly the better bullpen and I am almost sure they have the better closer. Meche has been dealing lately and could be in line for another solid game against the punchless A's. No Chavez, Ellis isn't hitting, they just don't have much pop. Royals aren't murderer's row but they can score. Greg Smith for Oakland has struggled badly his last two starts but I like him and think he's pretty solid and he has been at home. Might lay off this one because of Smith but I think the perception is that Oakland is still better than Kansas City when they're not.

Other thoughts:

Colorado has one of the wost road records in baseball AND a worst record than their opponent yet they are road favorites two nights in a row. I commented yesterday that I was surprised everyone was on a road favorite with a pitcher coming off the DL in Hirsch but I made the mistake of not betting on Pittsburgh who won going away. It might be hard to back Herrera for Pittsburgh but there is no way a team with one of the worst road records in baseball and Glendon Rusch as the starter should be a 125 favorite.

I will just make one comment on this one - there is no way on EARTH that Brett Myers should be a 140 road favorite I don't care if they are playing the Nationals (he's already lost as a road favorite to the Nats earlier thsi year). Balester isn't much but Meyers is junk. With Meyers road record at 0-8 with a 7.91 road ERA, nobody can justify this line. The Phillies are 1-9 in his 10 road starts this year. Nationals coming back home after an off day from a long road trip might pull this one off. Regardless, I don't see how anyone could play Philadelphia (yet I look at everyone is).

That's about it for now. I will try to finalize my plays for tomorrow.

I agree with Myers... I made the mistake of betting on him in his first start backing thinking he'd be pumped w/ the call-up and going up against the Mets. I was wrong. He's as wild as any starter out there right now. Balester is definitely serviceable. With Kearns, Milledge, and Zimmerman back Washington can knock in runs.
