This will only help you if you're a techie like me but there is now a (very unlikely) source for free NCAA football data.

ESPN is hosting a TopCoder contest for the upcoming football season. If you register with TopCoder and register for the contest, you get access to a TON of CSV data for the last 4 NCAA seasons. I haven't spent too much time with it, but it looks like its PLAY-BY-PLAY data for EVERY game over the last 4 seasons. It's a 19MB dowload of free data, CSV format, pretty nice if you ask me! Contest at: http://winningformula.espn.com/

Shit, I'd even enter if I wasn't so swamped with work and school.

I'm thinking about entering. I'm not keen on the method signature because it looks like the contest is only based on the previous week's data - at least that's the way I read it.

The data is just plain massive, you can't get it much better than this (at least if you know how to work with it).
