I see a lot of bets saying to take the first 5 innings of a game - obviously to capitalize on the starting pitcher match-ups and (hopefully) negate the bullpen effect. I use the Greek as my book, and when I look for these bets, I only see a line for the score after 4 1/2 innings. Is this typical and what everyone is talking about? Or do most other books carry a line for the entire 5th inning? Seems like it could make a huge difference in the wager. Just wanted to put the shout out for some advice and tutoring on the subject. I feel like I'm missing out...thanks rx members in advance.

My books give the first 5 innings and -.5 RL. Not sure why the Greek does it that way.

Thanks for the response, Mr. Cover. It just seems odd that I don't have the full 5 inning option, unless I am not looking in the right place. Anybody out there use the Greek and can weigh in on this?

If your wager was placed on the home team it would be decided in 4 1/2 innings. Imagine if it was the visiting team it would be the full 5. No bets are determined in 1/2 inning except for the home team.

This is how it is presented on the betting page:
"Team to lead after the first 4½ innings..."

I assume from this that no matter whom I choose, home or away, the score after 4 1/2 is it, with no chance for the home team to catch up if they are behind. If this is the case, would those of you who bet 5 inning lines even touch this? I guess in certain cases (visiting team is far superior) it makes the bet better (one would hope), but I just wonder how drastically this effects the outcome over a full inning.

(Sorry about the boldness of the text, but I can't seem to turn it off after my cut and paste!) :ohno:
