Absolutely, especially if Penny comes back in good form. Saito going to get healthy as well (and they already have one of the best bullpens in baseball).

Going to make life very difficult on the Dbacks and co. Still don' understand why Arizona didn't go out and get a left-handed bat.

Broxton may not let Saito back in the closer's role...but D, you are right....if Penny comes back strong, the Dodger's starters are as good as anyone...

dodgers are a question mark team right now. will manny show dedication to playing, will penny return and pitch well, will jones be on the bench the rest of the season etc etc.

i think they are a top 5 team in the NL right now though but after seeing what the cubs did to the brewers these past 4 days they are far and away right now the top team

Dodgers will be a player but not because of Manny really. More so because they have a ton of talent that will wake up at some point. Manny definitely helps though.

lotta hoping for those coming off injury for the Dodgers

Nobody is deeper than the Cubs. Harden, Z, Dempster will make things tuff for anyone in the post season. It's the weak pen for them.

Umm...what?

That 'talent' had them at .500 and inconsistent as hell. Manny is instant protection for those young guys like Kemp and Loney. LAD does have very good talent, but Manny will be integral in taking them where they want to go, with his performance and helping the other guys out.

Yeah, they'll eventually 'wake up.' Manny just set the alarm clock about 4 hours ahead of what it was before this trade.

Lest ye forget, the Mets were in the same boat about a month and a half ago...

Manny will definitely help though, like I said. I just don't think he's the only reason they start turning it around.

Manny Makes the Dodgers a much better team then they were today, not only does it give them a great bat it takes a shitty one out of the lineup

Looks like Pierre will get the CF job. Going to be interesting for OF defense in LAD the rest of the year.

I think its Kemp and Ethier goes to right

It's possible I suppose, but Torre absolutely loves Pierre. I think Ethier is going to be the odd man out.

This is why Torre is an extremely overrated manager. Too much "loyalty" to veterans. What is he, Dusty Baker or something? Pierre fucking blows. There's no reason his speed should be as much of a factor in how much he plays as it is and he definitely shouldn't hit leadoff. Ever. Number 8 w/o Kemp and Ethier on the team. Out of the lineup with them.
It's beyond me why the dodgers refused to give LaRoche a legitimate chance. Colletti is a fucking imbecile.

How he was Billy Beane's understudy has me scratching my head at times.

He wasn't. You're thinking of DePodesta who is now an assistant with the Padres. Colletti go his start as a beat writer in Chicago I think and then was an assistant under Sabean in SF - also a terrible GM.
