Doubt he stays in LA I'm not sure they can afford that, especially since teams in the AL who will be in need of a DH a few years from now will be willing to pay a far steeper price than an NL squad.

I think there's a damn good chance he'll end up in New York. They do have a bunch coming off the books and could use a power hitter for a DH.

Damon, Jeter, Manny, A-Rod, Cano, Nady... looking at a damn good offensive team even if they don't get a big bat at first for next year.

I don't see why not. NY is supposed to get everyone though. All the rumors are that Sabathia will sign there when he's a FA. Texiera got rumored to most likely be a Yankee next year. Prince Fielder is supposed to be a Yankee when he becomes a FA.

When a big name becomes a FA the first thing people think of is the Yankees because they spend money like it's nothing. It could happen, but they will likely only get one of the players I mentioned. Manny could EASILY sign longterm with the Dodgers as they will be a power team again and certainly have the money to do so since they play in a big market.

Manny might sign with the Yanks just to piss off Boston though.

The LA Dodgers couldnt afford it? News to me they just threw down 20 million a year for someone who doesnt even play, or might as well not play.

I could see him ending up in NYC, but it wouldnt be because the Dodgers couldnt afford him

Like who gives a sweet shit where the guy ends up?
Send him to Mars for fuck sakes and then hopefully it'll be the last we hear of him and the last we have to look at him. Amen!

I just am saying that I believe a larger offer than one that the Dodgers are *willing* to give him will most likely come out of the American League.

Sure they can afford him, but in baseball when you say a team can\can't afford someone, that's all relative to what they are doing with other players already on the team.

Manny grew up in Washington Heights and would love to be a Yankees. He also wouldn't mind shoving it up Boston's ass in the end either.

Alex~ You are saying they totally can afford the 100 mill Manny is requesting, keep in mind that several years ago the Sox put him on irrevocable waivers and nobody bit at it. He's two years older now, several small injuries later, and I personally believe less teams will be seriously interested in Manny than we would think.

Agree, he will end up as a DH sooner than later. Any NL team that takes him on also takes on a shit load more risk with the signing.

Would like to see odds on a future if Manny ends up with New York, if anyone finds that on a site let me know... I'd like to play yes.

Yanks should sign CC and Tex and call it an offseason.

Manny to the Mets. They like old, past their prime Dominican players that want huge deals.

The only club that would commit to Manny long term is an AL team and make him a DH.

That spells Y-A-N-K-E-E-S to me.

I could see the Mets being stupid enough to sign him fully knowingly that he might not be able to field within a few years - they do seem to have a fetish for old washed up Dominican players, you'd think they learn their lessons, but Omar simply doesn't.

I do think unfortunately, the best fit for Manny would be right in New York on the Yankees. They will need a DH, lots of money coming off the books this year, and with their offense way down this year... they will be looking to add a power bat - especially once they get outted in the first round of the playoffs again.

Manny has said a bunch of times he'd love to play for the Yankees, he may just get that chance shortly. It will be a real bummer to see a guy like that switch to the dark side, but obviously the forty million the Sox were going to give him for the next two years just isn't enough... so he'll have to seek higher pay else where.

Highly doubt Manny would refuse to clean up his hair if the Yankees bid 10+ million more than any other team for his services. Afterall, his leaving Boston is all about money... nothing else.
