Father of bride is sorta traditional, I guess ?

Is a step-father of a bride (me) supposed to pay ? I can't afford it, and hate weddings to boot. Sorta real father ( long story there)

is still alive. I talked to him on the phone once very briefly, he seemed like a Cool guy. I don't even really approve of the groom, but I will smoke(his) pot with him.

To me a wedding and a funeral only differ by a lack of a casket at a wedding, thank the non-existent God this isn't until 10/09, hopefully I'm out by of this mess called marriage by then !

Wife is agreeable to moving, far away eventually.... after the wedding, then when her mother dies ( could be 10+ years there, even though she near 85). I'm just going with the flow, for now.

Now way I'm paying for the FUCKING wedding !, ain't happennin !

My wife's family gave us some money toward the wedding and we paid the rest. They aren't well off and we were appreciative of whatever it was they gave us. It isn't an obligation of the father of the bride. as you said, it is traditional. If you don't have it, don't want to do it, don't. You also don't have to pay for the entire thing, but unless your step daughter sucks she will appreciate whatever it is you do end up providing.

We went and got married on our own. I thank god everyday that my wife didn't want a wedding. We figured it was better to put the money as downpayment on the house.

I agree with FHM's comments, she will be grateful.

It's a year+ away, thank the non-existent God's. My wife wants to sell the condo ( I agree), but I don't agree with staying in CT.

Condo sucks being awfully mis-managed, we both hate the place, so agreement exists there. Staying together doesn't suit me, as I'm tired of her and more so of CT. I need to get the Fuck out of here, no warrants, I just need out, I'm not running criminal charges.

If they have all been resolved (dismissed or plead and paid) you would be fine. If there are outstanding bench warrants then if you get pulled over they will bring you in, that would even be the case with a traffic ticket. Stateline has nothing to do with it either, if you are in state, get pulled over and have outstanding warrants they will arrest you and you will have to deal with the outstanding warrants.

OK,FHM (and everybody else that needs to know), the straight shit !, no lies !

I moved to Calif in late 1982, lived there until 1987.

I'm a drinker, no real secret about that. I caught a DUI in SD county, then a second one ( that was a bitch), had to go to a lot of classes and shit, rode a bicycle to work with my toolbelt on to the nearby union jobsite for Santiago air, shit got better, I made a lot of money working sunrise to sunset 7 days a week, even bought a brand new Toyota Pick-up after a few good weekends in Vegas, I got hooked for a 3rd DUI ( all in CA) around 1987, almost back from Vegas, like 30 miles away... that was rather serious, so I booked... to Colorado

I then got a UTAH DL, then a NM DL, then a CO one one that still says permanent, then later a ct one, I lost my motorcycle privelages off the CA license somewhere in that process, I don't care, but I once had a cycle endorsement, lost that somewhere along the line, actually would just as soon prefer to have it again, as I can drive a cycle

You can't do this Shit anymore, it's not 1987. I think I could get a CA DL, but it would be dicey. I do think they'd grant it.

I might still be wanted in Ca, but I doubt it. I'd bet I could get a Ca DL, in a flash, but have to earn the Motorcycle endorsement all over again. I could probably get a Ca CDL without much problems, drive a school bus, or even a rig, if I wanted to.

I'd bet that I could get a Ca DL with endorsements to drive ( or CDL) anything with wheels from a motorcycle to a rig , without much trouble.

I don't know where to start ...I mean don't want to sound like I'm on any kind of high horse or anything but "I dont even really approve of the groom, but I will smoke his pot with him". I mean come on you dont approve of him but you smoke weed with him...I dont know the relationship but if your smoking his weed to him that is "an approval". Also thanking the non existent god?? come on as a gambler you gotta know there is a god and especially a gambling god.....dont tempt them...

My wife and i are having a girl in November. I plan on opening an account and every so often putting some dough in it just specifically for her wedding, to ease the pain when it happens.

My wifes dress alone was 6,000 dollars.
