I use to love them as a kid.

Watching the track and field events can be fun but nowadays with so much exposure it isnt as exciting to me.

I sort of like the human interest stories that the networks put on right before an event. Gets you in the mood for the event but overall not really into the Olymipcs.

As a kid, I too thouoght the Olympics were a special event.

Now, I don't care one way or another, too many pros, and the whole thing has gone totally commercial, more so than when I was a kid.

Plus, a lot of the events that are 'judged' could be fixed at anytime.

Now I have to kinda force my self to watch.

Wish I could catch that Xmas spirit again.

Track and field and boxing are the only two events that interest me in the summer olympics. I could care less about the Railbird type sports like tennis, ping pong and gymnastics.

I like it. BBC will have 2500+ hours across 7-8 channels, I shall flip around all kinds of stuff.

Betting wise, lots of value to be found also, especially in-running.

Just not true. Look at the money NBC pays for this. People will watch every night. Hell my brother got his cable back on just for the olympics.

I will watch. But with it being in China I have a huge problem with this.

I'm a little excited for it. It hurts my interest that Canada won't be a major factor in the Olympics as usual, but am still excited for the track, swimming and especially the tennis. This is a big Olympics for Roger Federer.

With it being in China it should give us something to watch when there normally isn't anything on.

I will be glued to NBC olympic coverage. Say your 1980's rant about 'em being pro, but these are the best athletes/teams/competitors in the world. You can sleep on it but it is The Show across all sports. Forget Tapout, you want to see the strongest quickest dudes on the planet, tune to olympic boxing, wrestling and weightlifting. Another reason to catch these games are the view of China, its cities and technology. China blows my mind terms of their rise to supremacy as the world's dynamo economic engine that spins awesome architecture and industrial expansion that is unbelievable. Don't sleep on the games and if nothing else, follow US best into track, basketball, and swimming events.

I hate the coverage. We'll be force-fed tape delays of the US Men's Basketball team and the stuff I would enjoy will be put on the shelf like Boxing, Tennis, Track and Field and Soccer. Plus, if there isn't an American contending good luck seeing it on NBC. I'll probably watch stuff like boxing preliminaries on the Internet through a British or Chinese feed.

i think i read in si that they'll be covering it with 5 or 6 channels this year (pretty much 24/7)... more coverage than the rest of the previous olympics combined i think.
