Dempster -1 1/2 over Moehler and the Stros. (+105)
Stros will be traveling after an emotional sweep of my beloved Mutts and will probably be flat. More importantly, Dempster dominates righties (.191 avg against, .263 slugging) and the righty heavy Stros are in the bottom third in hitting cats vs. righties. On the other hand opponents are sporting a .456 slugging avg. against Moehler and he will be facing a Cubby offense that is #1 in ops vs. righties. He scattered 4 hits against them last game, but the Cubs lineup is hitting .300 and slugging .600 against him overall.
Now if you have $10 to blow here's the 5 teamer:
Washington +180 over Col.
Washington's been hitting a little bit and Redding has only been hit hard lately by lefty heavy lineups which colorado ain't. Career-wise Redding has much better numbers vs. the Rox than Cook has vs. the Nats. And it's Colorado in August. Anything can happen. +180 is a little high.
Atlanta +100 over SF.
Don't love that the Braves have to fly cross country, but Jurrjens is legit and the Giants can't hit a lick.
Cleveland +110 over Tampa
I know Tampa will never lose another home game again, but I have a rule of thumb: always bet on an ace (Lee) if you're getting plus money.
Texas +140 over NYY
Yanks should be a little flat after a grueling series vs. the Angels and a rollercoaster game today. They're traveling and will have to play in 100 degree heat which might knock Joba out early. Also, I don't care who's pitching, Texas in August is like Coors - anything can happen.
Baltimore +175 over LAA
The Angels should be demoralized after the Yankees series and will have to travel cross country. Baltimore can score lots of runs and they are #3 in slugging and ops and vs. lefties. Last time they faced Saunders they scored four off of him and hit K-Rod in the ninth too.
Probably have better luck buying 10 lotto tickets but what the hell.
