OT: Poison Ivy

Typing this with the most annoying case of poison ivy I picked up from my dogs, who probably got it from the park.

How is it I went an entire childhood without getting it is beyond me.

This is my first case of poison ivy and like I said, it's beyond annoying, who has gotten poison ivy in the past, and what did you do for it?

I am extremely susceptible, and have had it many, many
times in varying degrees.

If it's a mild case, calamine lotion always worked for me to
soothe the itching and burning.

If it's a nasty case, you can go to the doctor and get a steroid
shot, which I have done.

I had to go in and get a steroid shot that time, both upper
thighs were covered, and oozing puss all over my legs.

Not a lot of fun.

Both legs are covered from above the knees to just short of the pelvis region (on the sides)
Right elbow, both arms from above the wrists to the elbows (also on the side) now today we have a new area, back of the left hand.
Using combination of prescription psoriasis (sp?) creme and neosporin creme + pain relief.
Does the trick for 2 hours or so before I reapply.

Actually, the steroid is an oral steroid not a shot as I remember
(prednisone).

...Thought this was going to be a post about my favorite movie trilogy of all time.

The one time I had it bad the oral steroid helped a bunch - So ya, if the other stuff doesn't work ask your doctor.

Ocean water, or pool water (with chlorine, not bromine)

Works everytime.

Though if you are from Bridgeport, you may not want to jump into the water there. (No fun dodging hyperdermic needles) Use a pool.
