Bosox fan sues Yankees, 2 fans for rough treatment

NEW YORK -- A Boston Red Sox fan sued the New York Yankees and two of its fans Tuesday, alleging he was attacked at Yankee Stadium last summer.

In a suit filed in Manhattan federal court, Charles Hillios said he was harassed by two Yankees fans who objected to him cheering for the Red Sox last Aug. 29.

The Massachusetts resident said in the suit that security warned the Yankees fans to leave him alone. But he said the fans "viciously attacked and physically assaulted" him when he went to a concession stand.

According to the lawsuit, Hillios suffered serious injuries. It seeks unspecified financial penalties.

A call for comment to the New York Yankees on Tuesday was not immediately returned.

Disagree. I think this case is an important case for fans all across the country.

Fans are down right dispicable to opposing teams fans in many cities.

It maybe in this case. I know a couple of fans that got punched in the face at the OSU-Texas game in Columbus.

OSU scored everyone was going nuts and this dude sucker punched this UT fan. They got the hell out.

There have been many instances of this outside the teams stadiums... A few months ago, a guy got the shit beat out of him in Boston (actually, Cambridge of all places) for wearing yankees gear.

It'd be nice if there were a way to ban people convicted of this kind of offense from watching their teams (in person).

College games get ROWDY, security at Yankee Stadium is tight, they don't even let you wear Redsox sucks T-shirts.

I agree its stupid the way some fans treat fans with opposing jerseys on. its really stupid.

there was a kid beat to death after a Georgia Florida football game a couple years ago.

If I were at fenway and someone was respectfully rooting for the yankees next to me, i wouldnt say anything. No big deal.
