Well we finally arrived yesterday afternoon. The actual driving part of the trip went as close to perfect as we planned. Thank god for technology (GPS, satellite radio and cell phones). Wouldnt want to do it again but happy I did it once, if that makes any sense.

Had a chance to drive thru Colorado and Utah and it was 100x more mountianous than I thought. I thought it would be a lot of mountains but nothing and I mean it was nothing like I thought it would be. Funny story, I had driven every mile up till we got about 20 minutes before Denver and so my GF said she now wanted to drive cause she was getting tired (not sure that sounds right, LOL). Almost the second you hit Denver the driving becomes very tough. Normally she is a good driver (for a woman, LOL) but she was scared shitless and was holding the wheel in a death grip. One of my dogs was having a really hard time also in the mountains, not completely sure if it hurt her ears or she was just nervous because GF was but the dog was shaking the whole time. I ended up taking back over the wheel about an hour later and drove the rest of the way. It is just highly intense driving and adds to an already stressfull, tiring, venture.

Here is our biggest problem right now. Without going into full details (as I might punch a hole in the screen), 90% of our stuff is still back in Michigan sitting in our home waiting for the moving company to get there. Long story short we dealt with a broker who set this whole arrangement up. The moving company was suppose to show late last week and that never happend, when we would call her she would say I will put a request for this, that and the other and nothing. We couldnt even get a phone call from her. It was long big mess but finally we got ahold of the carrier and they are coming to pick our stuff up tomorrow but it is still around 10 days till we have a lot of our stuff. It is already hard enough trying to adapt to a new enviroment but imagine what it is like without most of your stuff. We basically have just the stuff we needed to drive across the country with. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place with having to leave under these conditons based the fact both of us have scheduled a lot of stuff for this week and had to be out here. As far as firing the broker/moving company, that was huge pain in the ass also. Everytime I would try and play hardball with them and say we wanted our $800 deposit back she would say I will put a request in for that. Ended up calling all around and no one can get there to pick our stuff up for a few more weeks, so were more or less screwed on that end. Bottom line it looks like we have it all lined up now and hopefully we should be good to go (keeping our fingers crossed). Bought a matteress last nite that we didnt need other than for these next 2 weeks and GF is out right now buying other neccessities.

Will add more in a few minutes as I dont feel comfortable with the computer I am using right now.

Where are you living at?

As great as VEGAS is, and I know it very well, it is a real shithole in more ways than one.

Having said that, still contemplating a move back because of all the positives it offers.

Anyways we have been here less than 15 hours and I have a shittload of stuff to do. One major thing is getting my cable and internet hooked up.

I am actually at a Buffalo Wild Wings around the corner from where I live using my GF's laptop to do this. Still havent got the whole time thing down yet as we were asleep at 10:00 last nite Vegas time (granted we did drive all day for the 3rd straight day), it was almost 1:00am est so maybe that is also why i was tired. The problem is I was up and ready to go at 6:00 this morning. The one thing I still dont comprehend is the whole bar thing, I mean I get it and undertsand it but it just makes me laugh. I am 10 miles off the strip and the BW3 I am at is open 24 hours a day and when i got here at 7:00 am there were a few in here drinking but they werent rowdy but the music was blaring like it was the middle of the nite. I come to find out that most of them just got out of work and were having a few after work, which makes total sense. It wasnt like I first thought were maybe they hadnt been to bed yet from a long nite or a few were getting started early, which I am sure happens all the time around here but like I said I am quite a bit off the strip and wouldnt expect that as much out this way.

This is going to be a slooooow process to get everything in place which sucks but I have to stay positive as I knew this wasnt going to be easy. From getting another bank account out here, to maybe switching my phone number (not sure about that yet), to getting another vehichle, to getting cable hooked up, meeting others, getting a drivers license, etc. Not a whole lot of fun but thankfully my GF is around to help. Just the fact we have to share a vehicle the first few days is another mess as we decided to keep my other vehicle back in Michigan. We obviously just want everything to be normal so we can get on with what we came here to do.

The weird thing is I havent bet on a single thing for a few days and havent even thought about it as I have been so busy. In fact even going downtown and hanging out is last on my things to do right now. I do know one thing for sure though my world will stop this afternoon to watch my Detroit Lions play there 1st exhibition game of the year(sad but true). I just the hate feeling of not being totally orgainized and I guess that sums it up for me is I feel completely unorgainized right now and I wont even think about making a bet until everything is in place.

Only other thing I worry about is our 2 dogs. This may sound dumb to others but they are the closet thing to kids I have and they mean everything to me. Half of our troubles revolved around the fact most places we looked at to live wouldn't let you have dogs. They are indoor dogs but we still tried to find the biggest yard (which isnt big at all) for them. It seems one of the is having a hard time adjusting to pissing and pooping on rocks as the landscape isnt grass (most arent out here). If your not from here you might not understand how close the houses are too each other. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for them but if they bark the whole neighborhood can here it. Only other thing is the heat but you take the good with the bad and this winter when it is -10 degress and blowing snow in Michigan, it will be most likely 70 degress and they will be loving it.

Going forward I promise not to bore you guys with minor details like I am now but just wanted to fill some of you in and maybe remind others who are thinknig about a similair move acrss the country on how hard it can be. The little things add up and you sort of forget about them when you are planning on a move. Looking forward to sharing everything with you guys about being here.

quit teasing me, with this moving back talk (LOL). I need to be filled in all these positives you talk about, I think I have found a few but would love to add more. Dont want to leave any stones unturned.

Fish, I e-mailed you the other day, you get it?

Living on the far southwest part of town. Sort of in the Rhodes ranch area. Not sure if you are familiar with it. It is reall nice and looks really new. Our home was built in 2003, so i think the area really out this way is less than 10 years old as far as development is concerned. In fact it looks like you cant go much further west than I live. More specifically out by Durango, Warm Springs and Sunset roads, if you know that area well.

Welcome to Vegas.

I'm guessing you are at the BWW on Flamingo and Haulapai, I think. Been there before.

You should know I normally didn't go out to start drinking until around 4 or 5am back in the old days. Lots of swing shifters get off at 3 or 4 in this town so it is not unusual to see the sun come up from a bar stool.

My sleep is all messed up and I haven't been to bed yet today, but email me if there is anything I can do to help.

Glad you arrived safe and sound.:103631605

It up the BELZ factory outlet mall near you...........I shopped their on a weekly basis for deals.

If your ever near the Longhorn on Boulder, go to the motel check-in and pick up a $10 off coupon for the Nike and Reebok stores........the Reabok store as buy one get 2nd for half off and the coupon can be used. Great deal on what are already discounted shoes.

There may be some good TAVARN plays still in your area, I wish I were there to check them out for you.

No actually I am at the one on the corner of Warm Springs and Durango.

As far as needing some advice/help. I might hold you to that (LOL). But seriously I may have a few questions for you later and where to go to get some things done at. Like internet provider, our subdivision doesnt have Cox cable yet, which is stunning from what I here but another curveball. Until then it looks like crap like this for a few more days.

I barely know the area so to answer your question I dont have a clue (yet but I will soon). Sounds like you have a wealth of knowledge.

I have an extra room for you (Billsey too). So hurrying it up, perfect time as football season is almost here and we could do some damage out here I think.

Ice, glad you made it in one Piece. :103631605

thanks buddy. Everything went really smooth as far the trip driving went. Just a little draining driving thru the mountains. A few have told me to go thru Texas next time (if there is a next time, LOL).

thanks DC, funny thing is I dont even really like to gamble if you can believe that. Sportsbetting is why I am here plain and simple and the contacts I have met thru the net and being able to work with them is the other. As far as the other forms of gambling I have no interest in it.
