It never ends. With the report that the Packers and Jets have agreed on a trade sending Brett Favre to New York, Chris Mortensen is now reporting that many obstacles need to be cleared to turn this into a reality, the most daunting of which would be Brett Favre, as reported on ESPN.

Mort reports Favre is dying to get back in the league, but he had expressed strong concerns about going to New York. He wasn't excited about their team or their chances to compete, and he had pushed the Packers to trade him to Tampa Bay. Mort now believes the Packers simply ignored Favre and did what was best for them, and in fact may have intentionally designed this deal to influence Favre to once again consider retirement. He reports the Jets are likely to be on the phone right now, attempting to convince Favre to join the Jets, but in the end, the veteran passer still has the power in that he can still retire and walk away from it all. If his anger with the Packers is as strong as most reporters and friends believe it to be, that is not out of the realm of possibility. There will be more drama tomorrow, assuming this is not easily settled (and it sounds as if that is a long shot). We'll keep you posted along the way.

Funny as hell if true.

My guess is probably he doesn't play another snap..............UNLESS BREES GOES DOWN WITH AN INJURY AND HE SIGNS WITH THE SAINTS.

I don't think Favre is a good fit for the Jets in that he doesn't seem to be the type to be able to ignore the criticism he's likely to get every time he throws an INT. I can also see the fans booing him if he has a lousy game. This could get fun.

This will never happen. The Saints paid top dollar in the off season for Mark Brunell and he came in early to learn the extensive Peyton playbook.

This isn't true if it was...it was covered up.

Brett will be starting QB for Jets. He has stated he is happy that this is all behind him and can't wait to join the team on the sidelines in Cleveland for tonight's exhibition.

McCARTHY is no dummy.........that should be evident by now.

He knows Favre is not totally committed to playing, just like Brett himself stated.

I think McCarthy is one helluva good football coach.

Then why did his plane just land in NY????

Hello...the Pack stuck it to Favre...because he asked for it.

No big surprise.

Please retire Brett

The smartest thing he could do right now is just walk away and say that this whole comeback thing was a stupid idea and it took him entirely too long to realize it.

This is really getting embarrassing.
