The only reason I actully thought of this was the recent trend of bumping old threads.

Clearly the threads this year are getting more replies and views now than they were back in 2003 (none topped 100 views) here at TheRx.com. I am not trying to say that what was posted back then was any more or less interesting than todays threads, just that we have more posters involved now than we did back then, which IMHO has to be considered a good thing..

Its kind of obvious that there's a flaw in the system.
On page 2115 we have a thread with 148 replies and only 149 views.
Many others similar to this one.

I cannot find that thread but it does not matter, moving up an entire year to Aug 7th 2004, forget entirely about the views because they may not be reliable if on some threads they equal the replies and just look at the replies only which have to be correct because it is an actual countable post. Threads get an appreciable difference in the number of replies now than they did 4 years ago..

August 7th 2008 (there were actually 89 active threads or two pages of threads on Aug 7th 2008). This is a link to one of the pages with all August 7th 2008 threads.

The problem is these threads gets pushed by one spot everytime there is a new thread posted, so in a few days these links will have threads from different dates on them.

Another indicator

Active threads perday is something we have been counting everday for the last 4 years plus some months. I used to do it in the beginning now moderator RobFunk does the job which is time consuming and never ending because it has to be done everyday 365 days a year.

An active thread is a thread that has at least one post in it for that calendar day. If no one posts in this thread on August 9th. - August 8th is taken now, the thread will not be counted that day. Bumped threads get counted on the day they are bumped and any days thereafter they have an active post on that calendar date.

Below are the last four Julys average active threads forum wide per day. We do not count any contest, Site Promotions, comment on the Prescription or Classic threads forums ever:

July 2005 - 184 - average of active threads on the entire forum per day.

July 2006 - 334 "

July 2007 - 346 "

July 2008 - 375 "

You can see we had a huge bump in 2006 and small increases the last two years since then.

Obviously baseball being in season had the most with 107 active threads. When football arrives some college football Saturdays the college football forum will break 250 active threads. Here is the count for Saturday October 20th 2007, a date I randomly selected as an example..

The Offshore forum stays pretty much steady between 70 and 100 active threads a day year round with some exceptions like a major event in sports such as Super Bowl Sunday. Notice college football with a whopping 283 active threads that day. Recently politics has picked up and there are some good days like Thursday with 44 active threads, obviously because of the upcoming presedential election.

The Rubber Room is also much busier than it was even a year ago, as it has seen a resurgance this year. Unfortunately some of these minor sport and specialised topic forums that have been added are not doing well.

It's kind of a shame we lost all the threads from before 2003, some great stuff there.

Link to that thread. Very unusual thread over 100 replies made by one poster out of 148 total replies. There is a chance the software only counted his IP as only one view, not sure. If you count the posts by Intuition Bet he has around 102 or so.
